Why is saying I am sorry so difficult? I've asked myself this question countless times because to me these three words are the simplest word you can come across but as simple as it is people find it difficult to say them, could it be pride or they felt it is not necessary? I came from a family where this magic word matters a lot, we say sorry for every little thing in my home and it has become part of me because I am so used to it, unlike my sister, no matter how hard u tried to correct her she always say will my sorry change the situation?
The word sorry works magic and I have experienced some of its wonders, that reminds me of a scene that happened while I was in school, on that faithful day we were taking a lecture in one of our lectures halls and because of the multitude in the hall there isn't enough passage for people going to and fro and in the midst of the commotion a guy mistakenly stepped on a lady's foot and with no any act of remorse he walked away. The lady walked up to him and requested why he walked away despite knowing he stepped her ,the guy didn't feel sorry for what he did and this provoked the lady and in no time they started quarelling because the lady ended up slapping the young man and now he wanted to retaliate. At the end of the fight he was questioned on why he couldn't say the simple word sorry just for peace to reign.
Probably because he felt he is a man and it will hurt his ego if he apologise to a lady, the situation wouldn't have escalated if he had apologised. Among many scenerios that i have witnessed this simple word has caused problems in marriages, relationships and friendships and in some cases it leads to loss of life. Apologising when you are wrong has nothing to do with age,you might offend a young boy that is far below your age but you saying sorry to correct your wrong doesn't make you lesser in status neither does it reduce your age to his. This magic word is necessary for peace to reign as we go about our daily lives because we never can say who will be our helper in future that is why we shouldn't let our ego ruin our future.
The word sorry serves as an antidote to any poisoned heart, it extinguish the fire of revenge and pave way for peace, it is a magic word that works faster than any spell this is why we all must practice the habit of saying sorry when we are wrong and also when we are right just for peace to reign.
