Firstly, as Christian's, it is a sin to take a life but the Bible says that there'll be a time when knowledge will abound in the earth and this era is that time. I said that because in the past, many pregnant mothers died from medical ignorance and many had still births due to the same factor. Medical science was not as advanced then but now, it is is incredibly advanced that even at just 4 weeks, doctors can detect anomalies with a fetus and they can advise a mother to keep or abort the baby.
Even for ectopic pregnancies, that is very dangerous to the mother. Doctors will never advice a woman to keep an ectopic pregnancy and this is for her safety.
I was once admitted in a general hospital and next to me was a young lady with her man. I noticed how she was unusually visiting the restroom every 15mins and after some hours, I asked curiously, what was wrong with her.
She humbly replied me that her almost five months pregnancy was problematic. Apparently after a scan, it was revealed they her amniotic sac was not fully formed and thus it would endanger her life if she carried to full term plus, she would lose the baby. So she was medically advised to terminate the pregnancy and that was what happened. The doctors gave her a pill that did the trick and the fetus passed out as blood from her body.
In cases like this, abortion is justified.
But when I think about those who live immoral and reckless lives having an abortion, I just shake my head because they don't understand the gravity of the risks they're taking.
Abortion comes with a lot of risks than benefits. Married couples should not opt for an abortion if peradventure they feel that their numbers are increasing too much. There are many families in need of children to adopt. They should give the kids out for adoption.
Like you said, aside rape or medical emergency, having an abortion is just not right on all levels.. physically, emotionally, spiritually, mentally and morally.
