The case of insecurity in the country has gotten really bad traveling by road during the day or at night is not even safe anymore being at the right place at the right time can be a threat to your life what are the citizens supposed to do in case it's like this. Are the governments doing anything to intervene in the insecurity issues happening in our country recently well my sincere answer would be no they are not and even if they are they allow doing enough. School girls are being abducted from their schools just because they are there to study youth coppers who are traveling today primary place of assignment being kidnapped on the road this is not how it's supposed to be.
This is my entry for #hivelearners weekly contest edition 2 and the topic is (THE VIGILANTE). I remember that there were times when my mom would bring out our mattress I keep them outside our house , our house was fenced, and then under so much heat at night we would all rub powder on our body and sleep outside and we don't have the fear that somebody is going to jump in shoot us or kidnappers generally we don't have the fear that something bad is going to happen we sleep peacefully and wake up in one piece in the morning. What exactly happened to this good old days.
Who are the vigilante the vigilante are the local community security personnels I would call them that because that is always see them are in my village. They are empowered by the people most especially by their traditional rulers who give them firearms and touch light to be able to perform their duties during the day and at night too. The truth is that the government is not taking the rate of insecurity in the country seriously things keep on popping up each day people are still getting kidnapped, people are still getting robbed, people are still getting killed on daily basis and what is been done about it absolutely nothing.
If I had the money to fight this insecurities in my country I would gladly in power the vigilante to make my country and my community a better place because what more gives peace of mind than knowing that you are safe in your environment. You can imagine pastors going to church and their kind firearms members coming to church and they are armed to the tooth. Because they do not feel safe anymore anywhere again it is quite disheartening. I will call well how my dad when he was alive used to empower the vigilante with firearms,touch light and so many other things they need.
And that made them to be very active in the community we barely have a case of theft kidnapping and killing because you know you would definitely face the rot of the vigilante if you are involved in any of that. For so long we have been relying on the government for interventions and nothing is forthcoming we keep getting different bad news everyday goes by. You keep losing our loved ones we keep paying ransoms that with struggle so hard on most of the time we don't even find the money and the kill our loved ones and family members..
So it's time to take matters into our hands and fight for what is right or gives of peace and security by ourselves for ourselves. This is a plea to the government to do more in the security sectors of our dear country in Nigeria.
