Hello everyone, you’re welcome to my blog.
I have been in different sittings with some older people where they talked about the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s with a particular kind of tenderness. They mentioned how some bags of food almost cost nothing and were very affordable. They mentioned the easy access to education and all. Not only that, but they talked about some peaceful things, like no kidnapping, bandits, and brutality happening today.
They even talked about how much they enjoyed electricity, food, and roads back then. I have heard a lot about these stories, and I imagined that I could have just been born back then so that I would have missed the country that was so functional. I honestly cannot imagine living in a world without technology (the past before the advancement in technology), and the reason is clear: I've never lived in those times.
Even some who were fortunate enough to live in both eras would agree that life is easier today than before. Of course, there are also downsides just like before. People born in different eras have different experiences, and when you try to compare many of these eras to themselves, you'll come to realize almost everyone has what they wish they had in their own era that other eras have.
Many of us born into this era are actually pleased with the era we were born in because of the numerous benefits we're blessed with, ranging from technology to different devices that have made life easier, coupled with the peace of mind unlike those born during the era of war. So in light of that, I'll be stating whether I'm pleased with the era I was born in or not.
When I saw the prompt, I thought up something out of fun. When we talk about eras, I think of all the eras that have lived since the world began, starting from Adam and Eve's era to Abraham, to Moses, to Jesus Christ's era, before the civilization era, and then the technology era—it's been a long journey.
The whole point of this is, there was no era that wasn't without its ups and downs. Humans lived in all these eras, and humans are not perfect beings; they will always make mistakes and do wrong things that will pass on as history. There were even eras with wars and slavery unlike now.
It's a crazy world indeed; we can't have the good without the bad as well. We just choose our bad and live with it. So the question asking if we are living in the best era, my answer is a very simple one, and it is, Yes, we are. I mean, are there other eras we could choose from to live in?
Let's be honest, we are tempted to compare to past times because there are histories and stories about how that time was. Luckily for some alive today, they experienced it firsthand and told the story, but if those were not available, we wouldn't be where we are today, and there would be no need to make comparisons between eras. I like the old times better even though technology wasn't so advanced back then, but people had values.
Nowadays, people are running after money, and there is an endless race going on in which only money is seen, and a person is judged on that basis. Sometimes, no matter how good a person is, if they don't have money, then their habits have no value. Today's society has become so hollow that if you do a job, then they think you have money; if you roam around like a poor person, then they think, "What is there to talk about?"
This is too much. It is poor. Inequalities have been present everywhere at all times; they existed earlier also. It was not that there was no discrimination of any kind earlier; discrimination was also present then, and it will always continue. But it is very much necessary to have peace like this, and I feel that it was prevalent in earlier times when there was less technology, and people were much more connected with each other.
