Hello everyone, how are you doing today? Hope the day went well for you? Because I am sure mine did. Today’s post is coming a bit late, but I made sure I bring it all the same.
On this day, we get to remember one of the vital organs in our body that we literally cannot do without. We have two of them, and although the absence of one would not be too bad, the total absence of the organ could mean death for whoever is involved. It is an organ that you all know. So without further ado, on this day the 10th of March, we observe World Kidney Day.
The purpose of this day is to create awareness of the various diseases that can happen to the kidney. Because once awareness is created, then measures can be put in place to prevent falling to any of such diseases. It is basically a day set aside to remind people about the importance of kidney health and how they can live a long life free of diseases.
The World Kidney Day was first established in the year 2006 by the International Society of Nephrology (ISN) and the International Federation of Kidney Foundations (IFKF) who had collaborated to create this day. It serves as a global campaign for the reminder of the health of the kidney being paramount. And also, on days like this subjects like Diabetes and high blood pressure being high-risk factors for Chronic Kidney Disease are also discussed. And people are encouraged to go for a systematic C.K.D screening, especially for all diabetic and hypertensive patients.
The kidney is so important to the body that its absence can make even the simplest tasks difficult. One of the kidney’s major roles in the body is to filter. It filters the blood and other fluid. And it can be taken care of by eating good food and drinking clean water. Drinking a lot of clean water is very important seeing as it would have a major role in washing away most of the impurities in the body.
If you know someone who is suffering from any kidney disease, then you would know that it is not a funny thing at all. It can drain you financially and emotionally, seeing as the person will become totally dependent in every aspect of his or her life.
This is not a condition I am wishing anyone, so I beseech you all to try and take proper care of ourselves. It is truly not that difficult. All we have to do is eat good food and drink clean water, try to exercise daily, and go for regular checkups. We all know that these would be ridiculously cheap when compared to the amount of money that would be spent if the kidney eventually develops an issue.
So, my dear friends, on this good day, do you know anyone with kidney diseases? Reach out to the person and let them know you have them in mind, they are going through a lot. And if you do not know such a person, you have a kidney. Begin today to take proper care of it and the rest of your body. You will find that living a healthy life, is not that difficult at all.
