AI is one of the biggest strides that humanity has taken in recent times, as it’s the one thing that every single person has felt the impact of, whether you like it or not, just like with the social media boom back in the day. Yeah, people had their initial reluctance, but eventually, social media was right up in everyone’s faces, whether you had accounts or not, you definitely had to interact with it.
And now, AI is doing the same thing. As in ehn, you can’t avoid AI no matter how hard you try to do that. That’s just how crazy it is. AI is now in places that it shouldn’t even be. I’ve seen AI in my photo gallery on my phone… like what’s the point? Do these guys expect us to just suddenly let AI do things that we ordinarily used to do ourselves? Because, unless the AI is to edit the photos, I can’t imagine what else it will be there for.
But then, AI is not really useless. Because, to an extent, it can be quite efficient. It cuts down work hours by a great deal, especially when you know just how to structure your prompts to get the best response from the AI. And because of this, because it makes work so much easier, people are getting replaced. However, people are only being replaced in things that don’t require critical thinking, more like in routine activities.
For today’s topic, the question is: Is AI actually more intelligent? And my answer is no! AI isn’t more intelligent than we humans. Yeah, it solves questions quickly, at a speed that no human might ever be able to solve. However, the AI learned how to solve that problem based on a similar problem that a human had already solved. AI lacks critical thinking; everything it does is based solely on a blueprint that’s built on human creativity. So, in the end, AI doesn’t do things like humans, instead it copies humans. There is a difference.
I feel this is where the trouble comes, because people are now becoming increasingly more dependent on AI. We need it for the most basic things and also the more complex things, no one wants to think for themselves anymore. And it’s scary. Because this is leading to brain rot, and we’re losing our creative minds to these things. What happens when people stop creating? AI learns from available information online. The second that information stops coming in, AI stops learning and stops evolving. And we’d all be stuck with an AI that can’t get past a specific period due to a lack of data.
This is really a scary thing to consider, but the more I think about it, the more likely it is to happen. While we keep delegating our tasks to AI, we find reasons to do less. AI in our fridges, washing machines, cookers, and we no longer have to manually reset these things or even operate them. A time will come when the only button we’ll know will be the power button; everything else the machine does will be handled by AI.
And that is a scary future to think about, a world where we don’t know anything simply because we have to rely on one of man’s creations to do everything for us. Including thinking. Aiiishhh!!!
