Now… wouldn’t I love to own a robot tailored to my specific desire? It would be awesome, considering just how reliable robots can be. We live in a world where something like this is really possible, and with time it will only get even more mainstream.
There is a future in robotics, and as we delve deeper into artificial intelligence, we’re going to see more and more of this. Robots will be able to act out on autopilot, based on parameters set into their system. They’ll do what they’re designed to do and do it well at that, leaving humans more time to do other things.
Like everyone else, I sure as hell would love to have a robot that would do one specific task for me, and if I had to pick, it would be one that cleans up after me. I’m sure you all can agree with me when I say that being neat and clean is no easy feat. No matter how much you love it, it can be really stressful. From cleaning the house to washing your clothes and dishes, it’s all a rollercoaster of stress!
Just one day of sanitation in my house and my back would be aching severely. I have to clean surfaces, mop my floors and the like… everything just so my place would look appealing to the eye. And now, having to do all that regularly. Sometimes, just the thought of it alone drains the energy from me.
But then, I can’t live in a dirty house, so I have to be up and doing about hygiene. So, no matter how stressful it is, I’ll do it anyway. And this is where the robot will come in handy.
The robot will always be on standby. The moment I come back, it’ll be ready to take my dirty clothes and wash them at once, it will always be scanning my floors to know when to sweep, and if mopping is what is required, it’ll mop and dry accordingly. It will also clean up the kitchen as well. Once I’m done eating, the robot will clear the table and wash the dishes immediately. If droplets and crumbs fall to the floor, it sweeps it all up at once.
You probably think this will make me lazy, but I look at it more from the perspective of it giving me more time to work and earn. These days, chores take up a lot of my time and if I have a robot that will take that weight off my back, I would gladly hand it over.
With the robot in charge of chores, my place would always be spotless. I’ll also make sure it periodically sprays air fresheners into the air to give off a good fragrance. And when washing my clothes, it must always check my pockets for forgotten money. Checking my pockets before washing is now a habit for me because I keep forgetting money in them. Washing your money in your clothes is just a different kind of pain, and I’ll make sure the robot saves me from this.
The robot will basically do everything for me, and my only job will be to charge it and maintain it from time to time. And then when software upgrades come, I’d have to get them as well for the maximum output.
As I said, the robot will only clean up after me, that’s all. Other chores like cooking and the like will be handled by me. Any meal prepared by a robot will only be… well, robotic. In the sense that it’ll lack creativity, and mainly be generic. I’ll cook by myself and make all my mistakes, eating my spicy food like that!
As for the design, I don’t need something cumbersome. I need something that can cuddle up in the corner and stay out of the way. It won’t make sense if I always have to walk around or over it, just because it’s cleaning and stuff. I’ve been trying to think of the best design it would have to make it more efficient and I’ve come up empty.
I know that in time such a robot will become possible, and when that time comes, I’ll be one of those waiting in line to scoop them up. But for now, let me continue doing my house chores in peace. After all, if I don’t do them myself, who will??
