Having a bucket list is something that just about everyone is familiar with, because regardless of how things are with you, you most likely have one thing or the other that you want to do. If they’re not written down, you most likely have them in your head, things you are aiming for, but for one reason or another, you’re just yet to actually get to them.
Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m talking about. And for many of us, there could be many reasons why some items on our lists have not been ticked off just yet. It could be financial reasons and our inability to afford such things. For others, it’s the lack of time, or just not being in the right mental space. Still, regardless of our limitations, we try our best to make sure we get as many on our lists as possible, because that’s part of the spice of life.
So, what’s the story for me? I also have some things in my bucket list, and from time to time, I update the list, based on things I want for myself, my level of growth, and also learning experience. And one of the things I added to my bucket list this year was to be done with all my school doings. As we all know, in Nigeria, finishing your academic education is one thing, but it would most likely mean nothing if you don’t do the compulsory one-year service.
Yeah, without it, you’ll simply be stuck in the same place, with nothing changing for you. You won’t be able to get good jobs, because everyone is asking for your certificate of completion. So it’s very important to get that out of the way. And that’s what I’m gunning for. I believe I’ve rested enough from school life, and I also know that this thing will most likely come with stress. However, it will be an adventure, and I’m looking forward to enjoying it to the fullest.
Another thing on my bucket list is one that I’ve already ticked. My goal was to wrap up my data analysis course this year, and I’ve done just that. It took me quite a while to get this good, but now I also have a certificate to show it. And with my portfolio, I’d have something rich and of high quality to show to prospective employers. It will definitely be awesome.
One more thing I’m hoping to tick off my bucket list is to learn about investments. There was a time when I was really interested in the concept of passive income, I just wanted to put money somewhere and have it pay me dividends regularly over time, one in which I didn’t do anything. However, that mindset only made me a target for scammers and Ponzi schemes. So, I had to learn and do better.
A lot of work goes into being an investor, and it can also be capital-intensive. So yeah, one of my goals for this year is to learn more about investments, the risks involved, and also the eye to see opportunities before they become public knowledge. I’m sure that I’ll be able to handle it.
It’s going to be an adventure ticking every single box on my list!
