Years ago, I went to a village in Ogun state to write an exam, and at the place I stayed, there was no water, we had to trek to long distance to get water and the water was not even clean or pure to drink but once in a week, the government tap do run and give the people in the community water...
I suffered a lot during my stay there because of the lack of water, I was glad when the exam was over and I returned home but as expected from yours truly, I got sick for days when I got home.
Since then, I have known the importance of water because the stress I went through there to get water to the bath was nothing to write home about, I survived on pure water for the time I spent there but we used water to cook.
Clean water is an essential part of our daily needs, and lack of it can cause serious illness in our body system, the last time I got very sick last year was due to the unclean water in my current area. The test result revealed I was suffering from Typhoid.
I knew the water in my compound was unclean and untreated because the first time I used it to brush, it smelled and tasted like what I don't know so I knew instantly that It was not safe for drinking.
I used it to do other stuff except drink, I spent a fortune on water because I buy 5 bags of pure water weekly.

I don't know how safe boiled water but I guess I got typhoid fever because of the water so I am being extra careful, during one of the meetings in the house, I suggested we should contribute money to wash the tank and treat the water but even though most think it was a good idea, no one turned up for the contribution so you can say, the water in my area place is unclean, unsafe and bad!
Ways to make our water Healthier and safe for drinking
Boil it: I visited a cousin of mine years ago and I saw her boiling the water they drink, I was confused and asked why she did that which she explained, back in my place, we drink well water and we don't boil it so I did not get the logic but I later understand that it kills all the germs in the water and makes it safe to drink, this is the cheapest way to get clean water.
Buy bottled water: First of all, not all bottled water is pure, we have many factories producing unclean water now, they just bottle it and sell which is unfair, but we still have brands like Eva water that sell pure water and I was not surprised one of my neighbors only drinks bottled water.
Pure water: I was shocked the day a friend said he saw mucus in pure water he bought, how can treated water have mucus in it, this just proves that most of this pure water ain't treated, only God is protecting us in this country. Pure water is cheaper than bottled water so many prefer this and that is what I drink too, at least it is better than the water in my compound.
