Hello everyone!
Hope you're all well?
Here's my entry for this contest.
I started engaging in exercises and taking it seriously about 3/4 years ago and because one of my brothers motivated me to. He even insisted my closest friend partake so I do not feel alone. Before then, I mostly watched my brothers and their friends engage in crazy exercise stunts. They were so fit and their chests and hands were large(not big o). The results were great but it looked like suffer sha.
I think the first time we started, we went on a road walk. My brother, his friend, my friend and I. We jogged a certain distance (quite a distance for myself and my friend because we were newbies in the game). It was so much fun. When we got back home, although I felt lighter, my body hurt really bad. My waist was on fire. My joints were numb. Every movement I took shot pain through my body. It was same for my friend as well. We had to go again the next day cause apparently, that's the quickest way for the pains to stop and truthfully, it did stop.
During that period, if anyone had asked me to jump to the moon, I wouldn't have hesitated cause I felt really light and fit. After every day's jogging, my brother - who doubled as myself and my friend's instructor- would take us on different work out tips/styles. We did squats, push ups, shoulder stand, we also lifted little dumbbells (we own weights of different sizes at home, and always have tons of my brothers friends over everyday which makes the place look like a mini gym), and so many others whose name I do not know.
Overtime, the road walks became less and less frequent but my friend and I exercised daily(we pushed ourselves). It bece a habit. Apart from being fit, we got results; thicker thighs, flatter stomach, thinner waists. It even made our appetite better. We looked peng. I don't know how but even our postures changed. Though they didn't come immediately, but they did and were quite obvious.
Even though I no longer have an exercise partner right now, I made it a point of duty to try to stay fit.
So, everyday I skip, do few push ups, squats, power walk, and stretching. I don't do as much/as many as I used to but I try not to skip or stop totally.
I've added a blend of yoga. Basically, I just go online on YouTube, watch a few videos on yoga and then follow the steps(it feels more like meditation tho). So while I keep my body fit through exercise, my mind stays sharp and alert through yoga.
If I am being honest with myself, I am no longer consistent. I do as the body leads.
I miss the road walks but I cannot afford to go out alone that early in the morning (5:00am) as it unsafe.
So, there! That's the little I do to keep fit.
And, lest I forget, I never forget to have a glass of water once I wake up in the morning and before exercising as it helps boost my energy levels and keeps me hydrated.
Hope you liked this piece.
Thanks for stopping by.
Good-day!
