Ever been locked in a room( be it unknown to the locker or not)? How did you feel? Trapped? Caged? Struggling to breathe inspite of how airy the place might be?
Everyone wants to not be subject to anyone. To be free to do what they want, how they want, when they want, wherever they please. Who wouldn't?
Freedom is a fundamental right of humans. Everyone of us. We.have lots of freedom. Of course we should. Or don't you think? Besides, who made the man judge/wing-clipper over another?
I believe there should be even more.. Although I do not believe that the freedom I enjoy is too much. It is just enough. Yet, I must agree that certain free-wills come with hazards to both the individual and those who are close by.
Take smoking and drinking for example; just as long as you are legal, you are allowed to indulge and, there are no restraints as to how much you consume. One could overindulge and drink himself to an almost comatose state. Maybe to death even.
By this, he has put himself in harm’s way and gone contrary to his right to safety.
Have you ever imagined what our world would be like without rules? These limitations and laws are here for a reason. For all our good(s). So much freedom allows you infringe on the rights and freedoms of another.
And now have you ever even thought that there is no such thing as too much freedom? It’s almost impossible to be free. And I mean complete freedom. One way or another we have to conform to societies opinions and trends. Should one fail to, then you face societies wrath.
The third topic of last week, I.e HL-W59E3 was on borders and was about open borders bearing no restrictions. I think these two topics bear a semblance. Because...
Think of people having the freedom to go wherever they please without proper scrutiny and then think of people having the freewill to speak however they please, do whatever they want, etc.
Everywhere will be thrown into chaos.
Even with kids, once you pretend to not be watching, they go haywire. But with adults who share different sentiments and beliefs and have habour good and evil thoughts? We might just as well be living in the wild.
Imagine there were no road rules. Do even know how much fatalities and accidents would arise?
Until now, I never gave much thought to "too much freedom." Thinking of it, it's a thing. But we know that too much or too little of a thing is not always good. Moderation is a thing. How many persons can handle freedom? How many can live civilly even with the knowledge that whatever they do -good or bad- would have no consequence?
Too much freedom can cause a decline in the sense of obligation as a person might act and not put to consideration the consequences of their actions. We need not even talk on how one will trample one another because no one would question them. It would be crazy.
The law was made by man and for man. I'm yet to find a law that restricts one from doing positive.
So............
Thanks for gracing this post.
