Good day, amazing people of the Hive blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hivelearners community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompt, a quiet time.
Seeing this prompt, I ask myself this big question because I can't remember the last time I slowed down and reflected or meditated. Like giving myself 30 minutes not scrolling through my phone but sitting silently away from noise and distractions, just paying attention to my thoughts and nothing else. A moment like this is fading because everyone is after catching the bag, making the moment rare, yet this moment is very important.
Here comes the big question: how often do you reflect or meditate? For some individuals, it's a daily routine; for others, it's once in a while; for some, they don't reflect at all. They live a life, and whatever the day brings, they will adjust. It's not always easy because a lot of thoughts will keep flashing, and your mind will be wandering. That's normal. Quiet moments are very important because they will help you understand yourself better. People who reflect and meditate on a daily basis are at a higher advantage because it brings them clarity and also helps to manage stress. Even if it's minutes of silence, it will go a long way in resetting your mind.
For someone like me who doesn't reflect or meditate, I don't think it is something that will come naturally, but with time I will get used to it. I have a sister who does not joke with meditation; no matter how busy her day may be, she must bring out at least ten minutes to meditate and reflect. According to her, the moment things get quiet, the mind becomes louder; a lot of thoughts will be running through your mind. Both things you were unable to achieve; you will get clarity and answers to some of your problems, but then some people are not comfortable. They feel frustrated, and that is why they avoid meditation and reflection. To be honest, it reveals how busy the mind has been.
I will not lie; reflection and meditation are very good. Although it has been long, I take out ten minutes of my time to do that because of how busy I have been lately. There are a lot of bills to take care of and responsibilities here and there, trying to cope with life having no room for reflection. To be sincere, the last time I reflected was during a significant life challenge, but there are people who reflect every day, and it helps them to have a clear understanding of their decisions, goals and values.
One benefit of reflecting is it helps you to have a clearer sense of direction in life, to fully understand when things are not working well and to re-strategise during those periods. You will discover some areas in your life that you have been ignoring and fix them up. Despite its importance, it's very hard to maintain this habit, believe me. It can really be challenging; it requires consistency and a disciplined mind. You must not reflect for a long time; five to ten minutes a day can help. From there, it will become a daily routine. Reflection is very good for our mental health and well-being. More especially in a world we see ourselves in that demands attention, reflection and mediation helps us to find balance.
