They say it's expensive but to me, I am only getting my money's worth. During my undergraduate days, my friend would always elaborate on two concepts: "penny wise, pound foolish" and most importantly the response he gives anytime I try to reprimand him for buying a particular good way above average price rate.
" As long as what I am buying is combating a need/want then the price is not a problem as long as I have the money". Back then I used to think he was just being extravagant with his finances but as I continued explore different phases of life, I not only understood why he operates that way I also became a die hard student of this life changing philosophy.
During the first week of last month (December), absolute boredom pushed to Temu - an online shopping platform where one can purchase literally any utility that comes to mind. As I was scrolling back and forth, the algorithm seemed like it was reading my mind because most of the gadgets that popped up were all headphones. Mind you I have been trying to get one for a while now but for diverse personal reasons, this undying desire was kept on constant pending until that very day. After going through different brands, I finally found one with great specifications that matches my taste. From the color, heavy bass, battery longevity down to the noise cancellation feature this particular piece had everything I was looking for. However there was just one problem, it was worth fifty two thousand naira pushing it way above my budget.
I thought about the purchase for awhile knowing that what ever decision I was going to make would shape the direction of the next couple weeks as a corper and coupled with the fact that I only had a total savings of less than eight thousand naira. After ramming through my head for the right choice, I decided to just purchase it with the sole motivator being that I deserved something nice for myself even though it is very expensive for me at that point. I shot down every thought of the repercussions for my actions and comforted myself with how much thrill I would experience from utilizing a top notch headphone.
The delivery date was set for between 15-20 of December with a condition that I would be paid some money if the package does not arrive within this timeframe. Unfortunately for me, I had to travel back home for personal reasons so I could not wait for its arrival but my friend was around to pick it up. The headphone was delivered on the 24th in my absence and I patiently waited till I returned back to Ilaje before I can use it. Flashforward to today, I am currently in Ondo state and after charging my gadget for a little over two overs, I finally get to use it and I've got to say buying this is a decision I don't regret making because It gave me the very satisfaction I was craving for. If this is a horrible mistake, I don't mind repeating it over and over again. I don't care what anyone thinks, I am certain I made the best decision with my money... Thank you.
