I know about a different sport, but I never knew it could be called a contact sport. A contact sport, the name alone should make someone know that it can be dangerous.
As much as contact sports are dangerous is very fun at times to watch with friends.
When I was in high school, I loved to sport a lot, in fact, football you will see me, volleyball my favorite, basketball, etc.
I will sit at the fence on the school court and watch them play. I will be hailing the people that am supporting.
I later joined the volleyball team, and l love it so much. Each time that I play, there is this happiness in my chest.
During training one day, I was watching by the fence as usual. They announced that volleyball was open for a new take, and I quickly joined them.
Our first game was awesome, nobody sustained any injury. We were happy that we won. I never knew back then that people could sustain injuries that can kill them.
Since I joined volleyball games and it was always fun, I had to join football, but my teacher advised me against it, that I should remain on the volleyball team.
I told her that I just wanted to join football as it is one of the sports I love too. She said ok, you are a strong girl.
I happily joined; we have not really played any major football march since I joined them, so I thought it was smooth, and that is how it will always be.
We had a friendly march with one other school in the state. So it was just the state high school trophy, and we were qualified to join; on the D day, we got to the stadium, and the match started; we scored first, and everybody was hyping and singing our praises. I noticed that I, who scored the goal, became the target of our opponent.
The problem started when I scored the second goal, just 15 minutes before the end of the game. Our opponent became rough; they were no longer playing ball but were seriously giving us injuries.
One of these girls left a ball that I had kicked out and hit me with her shoe on my knee. It is like she used all her muscles to hit me. My kneecap shifted. Ha, God, I cried like a baby in the field that day; a fight ensued between them and my school.
It was so obvious that she kicked me on purpose that the school was disqualified.
Contact sports should have more rules and regulations, and the UFCA or whatever bodies that govern football should make sure that those rules are carried out. There should be a well-organized or arranged plan for the well-being of contact sports players.
After I recovered from that dislocation, I didn't go back to playing football again; I just stuck to volleyball; at least since I started playing it, I have never sustained any injuries.
One of my high school girls fainted cause she was hit in the chest, and blood was oozing out from her nose; she collided with an opponent.
One thing about contact sports is collision, fall, or even head injury is inevitable; contact sports have always been regulated, but more rules should be added cause some player will injure their opponent on purpose.
