Sometimes we pray to God for help, and help shows up in the most mysterious ways we can imagine, and that's why God is good because he can turn situations around in one second.
I have told you in this space how difficult it was for me to get an admission into the university after I finished with my secondary school education.
Between 2010 and 2020 I kept on applying at various universities within Nigeria without being admitted, so I almost lost hope, and so in the year 2020, after my A-level, I went and took the JAMB form. I bought the form for direct entry since I was applying using my A-level results.
I applied at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and unbeknownst to me as a direct entry student, I needed to send my transcript ahead of the screening, which I didn't because I wasn't aware, so after the screening, I was waiting to get an admission because I also had confidence that I was going to get the admission, but admission wasn't forthcoming.
One morning after our devotion, my dad said to me, "We are going to Abeokuta tomorrow," and I was like, "For what?" and he said, "To check why you haven't gotten admitted." Unknown to us, at this time, admission was over.
The next morning, according to his words, my dad and I set out to Abeokuta. We got to the school area by about 4pm. I called a friend who I squatted with during the time I first came for post-UTME, so he told us that the office in charge would have closed, so we found a place to pass the night.
The next morning my friend accompanied us to the school's senate building. I'm getting teary. We asked for the office of the registrar, and we met a woman (name withheld), and that woman was the angel that was waiting for me. She told me to check some files, which I did, and when I didn't find my file, she told me that my transcript wasn't sent anyways. There was nothing she could do, as at this time she was the deputy acting registrar.
She gave my dad her number and asked him to call and then advised me that on the next try I should put in for both UTME and direct entry, which I did. After the whole day of exams and post-UTME, my dad simply gave her a call, and she asked for my details, which we sent.
And not too long after, I got a call from the computer center, where I didn't register, that I had gotten admitted for direct entry, which means I was going to resume as a 200-level student, and while I was still celebrating, a few days later, I got a call, this time directly from the school, and the person on the other end told me that I had gotten admission to resume as a 100-level student. I gladly told them that I also got an admission for the direct entry. The person congratulated me briefly and ended the call.
After that we tried to put a call across to this woman, and the number was no longer reachable. After a while, when I got into school, I collected the number from my dad and called the number so I could go and appreciate her. That's when the person picked up and told me never to call the number again, and that was how I stayed through school, and in fact, I never had the name of that woman till I graduated, and this was how I was helped by a stranger.
Thanks for stopping by.
