IT’S MY FIRST TIME PARTICIPATING IN THE HIVE POWER UP DAY

If you see me right now, you’d think I won a lottery😂 I am so excited, because I finally participated in the hive power up day for the first time ever! It feels like an achievement, and I think my excitement is valid.

I have been on hive for over a year now. I realized that when I received a notification on hivebuzz on Sunday, wishing me a happy hive birthday—‘how time flies!’. So, since a year ago that I have been a part of this amazing Hive family, I have never participated in the Hive Power Up day.

I always wondered what it meant and I see how much people look forward to powering up every first day of the month. When I got to know about the significance, I was so eager to be a part of it.

On my birthday, I was gifted 5 Hive by Hive account@hopestylist and thanks to her, I had that in my account until yesterday. I was discussing with Hive account@starstrings01 yesterday and told him to tell me more about powering up. It was during the conversation I learnt that the minimum amount one can power up is 10 Hive and I clearly didn’t have up to that. All my HBD has been in my savings and I couldn’t turn them to Hive.

He asked if I was going to power up and I told him I didn’t have up to the required minimum of 10 Hive in my account. The next question he asked was ‘are you sure?’. I was like ‘yes of course’ and proceeded to log into my account to screenshot my wallet and send to him. As I got to my wallet and was about taking the screenshot of the page, I miraculously saw my 5 Hive turn 10.

Yes, you guessed right! Hive account@starstrings01 sent me the 5 Hive😂😌. I was so happy guys, I rushed into his DM to thank him.

Fast forward to today, I finally powered up my Hive and was able to participate in the Hive Power Up day for the very first time since I joined Hive, thanks to Hive account@hopestylist and Hive account@starstrings01❤️.

THE PROCESS

I went into the wallet section of my account and clicked on the dropdown button below my Hive balance. Saw the power up option and clicked on it after asking Hive account@starstrings01 if that was the right step to take (I must not make a single mistake, you know🌝😂).

I had already copied my active key because I knew I would be needing it. I learned that during one of our lectures in the newbies initiatives that we’ll always use our active key for making transactions on Hive (I’m an attentive student, I know😌😌😌)

I then went ahead to power up my 10 Hive and chose to leave my extra .001 in the account, I don’t even have a reason for that😂.

This stage didn’t catch me by surprise, since I already had my active key copied beforehand.

My account entered 400HP!!! The exciting thing about this is that I set some hive goals in once of the newbies initiative tasks given to us and one of my goals was to reach 500HP before the end of the year. I realized that I was very close to attaining that goal and I will work very hard and be intentional about hive, so I would reach my goal and even beyond.

I will also work towards participating in the subsequent Hive power up days.
