My introduction to hive was more about work necessity than knowledge or willingness, I was given the task to integrate the Hive ecosystem into our brand new crypto "exchange". The goal was simple, process deposits and withdrawals in Hive.
The first shock, create an account
Creating an account was the hardest thing I ever did in the crypto space in a while, this was back in 2022 and even when I was kind of "medium-advanced" in crypto space, I just could not create a Hive account. Honestly, I was about to give up.
I ended up paying in bitcoin to get a Hive account, so for me, I was not worth it, but it was my current task, so…. Mandatory. On the bright side, I really appreciated the "username" approach to the addresses.
With this, I finalized the integration, and left my account abandoned, forgotten...
Fast forward >>>
A few years, I received a similar task from another employer, and here we go again, or so I thought.
Suddenly I discovered Ecency, just an email and you can create an account? This is new and is very good! Almost painless onboarding.
This time, I stuck around.
I "invested" into the ecosystem, just to give it a try, some Tether into Hive, and here we go. I learned about voting, proposals, witnesses, "staking" (saving) accounts with APR... And I liked it, so I invested some more and started "voting", discovered delegating and earned my first 0.1 HIVE, so I was happy!
I really see the potential on this blockchain, and there are some very interesting projects like loans (), LOANS in the blockchain. For me, this is exciting and very very interesting.
As a dev, I want to dive deeper into the ecosystem and check for opportunities to make it grow.
If you are new to Hive, let me tell you this, even tho it lacks a lot of documentation, and it may seem like it refuses to "hold your hand", don't give up. It is worth the learning curve, it is worth to invest time into it.
