As Yoruba will always say, "oju merin lo bimo sugbon oju ton tó ju merin lo" which means na four eye dey born but he pass four eye wa dey take care of the child.
If we really look at it, that is the way life is wired. Imagine growing in a face me I slap you house, I mean a house that people who live in are more than 20, imagine how many advises you will be getting every day? Actually, that was the type of house I grew up in but I won't be talking about any of that.
This one was an advice I got from my mom when I was between the age of 18 to 20. I guess because I couldn't remember the actual age I was. Due to my background, I have always pursued good life but I won't do anything illegal, I was always the hardworking one.
I started working before graduating from secondary school. There was this time Ponzi scheme was a trend in my country, but this thing happened before I even know it was called a Ponzi scheme.
A very good friend of mine introduced this stuff to me, you invest some money and they doubled back in 2weeks. The person who introduced me to it said she has been doing it for a month now, she showed me the proof of payment and everything but I wasn't confused at first, I told her this stuff doesn't last but the funniest thing was that even after 2months, I decided to venture into it started with some money and after two weeks, I got my money back with the profit.
I decided to put back my profit and even my capital. I know what you are thinking but that money isn't enough to change my life but guess what I didn't get any money back but I felt like that's life, we lose and we gain.
After a year, I heard about another that was just starting so I told myself the earlier the better, so I invested the exact day it was launched with little capital, my money doubled too but the second investment didn't come back. Later on, I did some other stuff too that didn't yield. I even started a wristwatch business but nothing worked, so I got tired and was thinking that I'm cursed, I was beginning to get depressed.
My mom noticed and I told her that it seems that I am cursed but she said, I'm not cursed, the one thing she wants me to know is that it only when God says it is time that is when even if you do the smallest thing, it yield to sometching beyond our imagination that she is not saying I shouldn't try again to be successful but even if it doesn't work out the way I thought it would be, I should always have it in my mind that, God knows about it".
She also went on and said what if I get rich early and die early? That I should keep calm so that when it is God's time, everything will come at ease. Those words sank into my bone and they brought relief to my mind
She also prepared my best meal (pounded yam with Egusi soup) after the discussion and everything after that day started making sense.
Years after, Things were starting to get better and the lifestyle I really want to have is this lifestyle of people that normally don't live long and it is not the wayward type of lifestyle, I hate when someone gets cheated and this doesn't mean if it someone I know, I also love to help people and a lot of other good thing and I like the life is a party too, it was then what she said year back now meant something to me. If I didn't get that advice then, I might have done what I'm not supposed to because my thoughts were getting crazy already.
Well, I'm also using this opportunity to advise you people, God's time is the best, keep calm and keep hustling.
Peace and love guys
