I joined Hive with no previous experience.
No background in blockchain, no technical knowledge, no clear strategy. Just curiosity and the desire to understand how this platform really works.
At first, everything felt overwhelming. Hive Power, votes, rewards, communities… too many new concepts at once. So instead of trying to master everything, I decided to start simple: learn the basics and write about them honestly, as I understand them.
This post is part of that process.
My first understanding of Hive
From what I’ve learned so far, Hive is not just a social network and not just a blockchain. It’s a place where content, interaction, and value are connected.
Here, posting is not about collecting likes. Every vote represents a decision: someone considered that piece of content valuable enough to support it. That idea alone already makes Hive very different from traditional platforms.
As a beginner, that was the first thing that really caught my attention.
Proof of Brain, explained by a beginner
One concept I kept seeing everywhere was “Proof of Brain”. At the beginning, I didn’t fully understand it. Now, in simple terms, this is how I see it:
Value on Hive is created by thinking, learning, and sharing ideas. Instead of mining with machines, people contribute with their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.
You don’t need expensive hardware or big investments to start. What matters is the effort you put into your content and whether it helps, informs, or resonates with others.
For someone starting from zero, that feels encouraging.
Being new is not a disadvantage
At first, I thought I had nothing useful to say. But then I realized something important: many users are exactly where I am now.
Sharing what you are learning, even your confusion, can be useful to others who are just starting. You don’t need to be an expert to contribute. You just need to be honest and consistent.
From what I’ve seen, Hive seems to value authenticity more than perfection.
Why I decided to start writing here
I don’t have big expectations or financial goals right now. My main objective is to understand Hive better, improve how I express ideas, and learn in public.
This is my first post, and also my commitment: to keep learning and to share that process in a genuine way.
If you are new too, maybe this post will remind you of something simple but important:
you don’t need to know everything to start — you start by learning.
Thanks for reading.
