How cool it would be if we were able to predict correctly the outcome of our future. Imagine that you can just sit on your sofa, tea in hand and develop a perfect plan that culminates in the future that is a function of your experiences. That would be quite awesome right? Or perhaps, it would be boring. After all, what's the fun in getting into an adventure where you already know the outcome?
Either way, depending on the divide you belong to, I believe that there are people out there who would give anything just to have a glimpse of what their future looks like. They would then be able to know the actions to take, the modalities to put in place and develop a workable plan that would lead to that future.
Be that as it may, the real twist here is that the future you would or can predict is predicated on your experiences at the moment. That is to say that your future is a function of the actions, inactions and the accompanying effects of these experiences. In reality, our future is actually a function of the things happening to us today and how we react to them.
But then life itself isn't a straight route where everything leads to the same output everytime. That's to say that I and my friends might be going through identical challenges right now but end up on different divide of fortunes a few years from now, and that's the beauty of life's journey; its unpredictability.
But what if I could predict my own future, using my current situation as a template? Well, I'd say that I'd have a hell of a ride. For starters, I'm at a point where Nigerians would refer to as going through a lot". Being from a very modest background, my life has typically revolved around modesty.
If I were to predict my future, I'd say that I most definitely would be a revered leader, probably being the light which our people have been craving for since we went into democracy. I'd be one of the foremost leaders in my country and leaving in my wake legacies that posterity would be kind to me. This is just as I create functional routes for those behind to climb to the echelons and achieve their dreams.
I know we've not really been lucky with politicians and trust levels are at its nadir, but then what if I would be the one to restore those trust levels and demystify leadership in both my state and the country as a whole? The circle of friends that I have with regards leadership is phenomenal and personally I believe in the next breed that are brewing.
One thing that has constantly made me curious though is the fact that despite my best attempts at hiding, leadership positions always seem to find me out. Personally I don't see myself as a particularly excellent leader and always prefer assisting from the shadows, and that makes me curious about what people always see in me that I can't.
So perhaps I personally might just be doing my thing somewhere, hustling for money and just trying to live my little cozy and quiet life, when a long time friend seeks me out just because he believes that I have what it takes to deliver dividends to the people in whatever capacity he thinks I can.
I don't know what the future holds for me, and I'm just taking one day at a time, but if I were to predict it, then it would definitely be in political and leadership circles. And damn do I love politics, pure politics, not the one that enslaves the people, but the one that borders on quality service to the people.
