Reading your post, it seems that things in your country are going very badly compared to the past. My parents always say that, in their time, they had all of that you mentioned: they needed to grow crops and raise animals for their own livelihood, and inflation was lower, so people had to work less to buy certain things, such as a house or a car. Even so, they say that the current generation has many advantages and luxuries that did not exist in their time.
