Sometimes, I wish that each of us were given the privilege to decide whether or not to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that Adam and Eve took without our consent.
I am very sure that if individually we were faced with such a choice, many would have avoided that tree, knowing fully what its consequences are.
Unfortunately, that choice was handed over to one man, and he decided the fate of man.
Does that make God biased? Not at all, he knows it all, and he knows why he decided for things to be that way.
There are certain decisions that everyone can't take. Whether we like it or not, there are situations where only one person is allowed to decide for everyone but whatever the aftermath is, everyone will partake of it.
A perfect example is in the family, the father as head makes certain decisions, and whether or not the members of the family are satisfied with it, they are constrained to obey.
Making a choice is one of the most powerful things on earth; it is something everyone does each day to make things happen.
Without making a choice, we can not do anything, and it is clear that for each decision there is a consequence.
This is why it is popularly said, “choose for yourself.” However, there are cases that demand choices to be made for people.
Sometimes in group affairs, sometimes as family. For children, automatically, the majority of their basic choices are made by parents because it is assumed that they can not choose right.
A sick child cannot decide whether to go for treatment or not. He or she doesn't know the consequences, so the parents must intervene.
All these are normal things in our society, but they scare me. Having another person choose for me is something I am not comfortable with.
We are humans, making mistakes is inevitable. How sure am I that the person choosing for me is choosing the right thing?
What if he or she chooses wrongly? That automatically means I have to pay the price for something I am not ready for.
A typical example of this is children with polio. Some of them only grew up to see some parts of their bodies disabled.
They were originally not created to be disabled, but their parents made the choice for them by refusing to allow them to get vaccinated due to beliefs or fear.
It is so unfortunate that children can not be allowed to choose for themselves, and the reason is justifiable.
It may sound like right infringement, but sometimes it's the best thing to do because if you leave a child to choose, the chances of them making terrible choices are high.
With this, we can say that it is inevitable for parents to make wrong choices for their children. Once in a while, it will happen, and honestly, it is not with the intention to harm the child.
So, for an adult, it is wrong for anyone to choose to refuse to take preventive measures due to their beliefs, knowing fully that it may affect others wrongly.
Such a person is wicked and selfish. Unless it is something that is dangerous, but if it's beneficial, why withhold it from people simply because your beliefs or emotions don't agree with it?
If it is something good, make the choice, I believe that it will turn out well and the person you did it for would live to be grateful for life.
