Over the years people have made it a popular saying that Education is scam, That is we only waste or give out our precious time and money to schools without gaining anything in return, but i want to say a very Big No to that. Before I proceed I would like to Define Education. So we can get a better picture of what I want to talk about.
According to oxford English dictionary, Education is an art of imparting, knowledge, skills and judgment. From this definition we understand that education is not a source of income but the it teaches and trains you towards it. Education therefore is a tool that one uses to get to success but education itself is not the success, it is only the way .
Many people have so much placed value on education and put a lot of expectations on it and when they don't get what they hoped to have gotten from it. They conclude it's a waste of resources. I really don't know why it is like that but maybe it is because we pay to learn. But come to think of it, do you expect to get someone work for you and not pay the person? We are taught not to depend but to use what we have to get what we desire. Do you expect your teacher or your school to get you a job in the government? Education only does its best and empower us with the necessary knowledge , skills, ideas that we need to succeed and I believe that is the goal.

The reasons why we conclude that education is scam is because we expect a lot from it. We place our lives and destinies on it but of a truth if you would check it critically, it is not not even on education that our mind is focused on it's the government. But we put blames on education for government's wrong. Come to think of it, let's say you want to go to Lagos you booked a flight and the plane brought you to Lagos and dropped you at one of the airports there has it not played it part? It's now left for you to look for a taxi to take you where you want to go to and if the taxi takes you to your destination it is left for you to locate the house you want to go to. Education the way to success just like the plane and taxi aids you and brings you to where you want but it will not carry you inside the house. In this regard. I think that saying should be Government is scam not Education
Furthermore without education most of us wouldn't have known how to read, how to write, how speak good and many more. Those saying it is a scam, if it were not for the education where would they have learnt how to construct such a nice sentence " Education is a scam" or even to spell and understand what they really want to pass across to the world? Are we not thesame people saying that it is lack of education that has made some of our political leaders irresponsible and inconsiderate? Education is change, go around our society and take a survey on human behavior and reasoning based on the educated and the uneducated you would be amazed how small and tiny the reasoning of the uneducated is.
You would agree with me that most of the people that are being used to kill innocent people in the world today are the uneducated ones, they don't know reason deep, they don't know the value of life, they only care about money. Why because no one taught them so they feel humans like them are like animals, not knowing everyone is special and has right to live. Come to think of it again, let's say we have a president that didn't go to school, how does he make speech? How does he address his people, how does he write for aid from other nations. President is even far, You as a person for instance you happen to be a boss in an organization and let's say you didn't go to school won't you be embarrassed and ashamed of your self when you're asked to write or address your workers in English? Let's not fool ourselves education is never a waste, even if you spent a lot and after acquiring many results, yet you didn't get a job the knowledge you get from school can never be taken away from us it becomes part of us.

We buy food stuffs in the markets and pay and we don't expect the sellers to farm for us for free simply because we purchase food stuffs from them, we go to hospital and we pay after we are being attended to and yet we don't expect the doctors to secure guaranteed health for us. But we go to school and learn and after that we blame schools for not giving us jobs simply because we paid, honestly this is wrong.
Whatever we become in life is traceable to education even if it's just a skill somehow someone educated taught the person that taught you. For our works to be better we need education, you can't compare the work of a learned person with that of someone that is not learned in terms of quality and perfection. Even in business if you don't know mathematics or how to read you would be cheated right before your own eyes yet you won't know. No matter how much we spend to learn, I think it is never enough to pay for that service. The only person that should say education is scam is someone who went to school and at the end doesn't know how to read, write and speak good English.

Finally I would recommend that we change our mentality concerning placing our destinies on education, don't expect that school should make you what you want to become. School can only train you to become what you want but it doesn't have the power to handle it to you. Schools don't give jobs. It is the government that gives jobs please stop blaming Education for our government's undoings
