Good day beloved hivians, I want to specially welcome you to the first Edition of this week, week 23 Edition 01.
There is no happiness at all without sadness, pains and sorrows. Every happy man once passed through great moments of pains. Happiness is such a costly product that needs to be tested by circumstances before it can be birthed. It is a genuine commodity and only those who are willing can enjoy it. The absence of happiness in any life can result to a great damage. Happiness is totally free, yet not everyone enjoys it. It is something we obtain with our choices. Most genuinely happy people don't get broken by circumstances, the reason is because they were once tested by it and they scaled through, they have the scars. Nothing is new to them about that road, they were once there. Happiness is sometimes influenced by occurrences, like success. When we hit set targets our happiness gets triggered, when our desires are granted we also get happy. Happiness comes by when good things happens to us. But I call that type temporal happiness for sooner it will disappear. True happiness is the one that can be sustained for life, this kind is birthed from experiences both good and bad.
Mrs Bridget's Experience.
Mrs Bridget's happens to be a widow, with four kids, three females and one male. She happens to be a business woman who sells farm produce yet she has a small restaurant where she sells food. Mrs bridget was a very hard working woman and she would do anything to see that her children go to school and succeed in life. She believes that no matter how hard things maybe, they will definitely be fine someday. This woman was poor yet she believes that at the end of every tunnel there is light. She so much placed her priority on her children. She knows that her children are the future she has been dreaming of. She was not opportune to go school though but she values Education a lot. She single handedly sponsored all her children in private schools from primary school to secondary schools .
Her daughters went to private college which was very expensive but she labored hard and sponsored them until they were done. The male child was the only one that went to a state college and the reason was because the economy was hard as at that time, she could not afford the money to pay in private college. This woman would do anything to see that she secure a better future for her children.
The Encounter With Hell.
One day, something happened, Mrs. Bridget's younger brother who was a secondary school teacher collected his salary and also received money from the monthly contribution he was doing with his colleagues at work, the money in total was about Eight Hundred Thousand Naira (# 800,000). He taught of helping his sister by expanding her business. So he gave her all the money and told her the plans he had in mind. They made agreement and she went and bought farm products in bulk ( guinea corn and maize) and kept them in store at home. She was so happy, she appreciated God for the uplifting and she was so grateful, I could imagine her saying finally a way out of poverty has finally come. But something mysterious happened, insects from no where began destroying this goods, there where weevils everywhere, and in every bag of the goods. Those weevils had eaten the goods badly and had reduced the market value thereof. Her initial plans was to keep the goods so that during dry season when the goods are scanty and high in price she could sell them and make interest but now things have changed. She wanted to tell her brother but she was scared because she thought he might be offended , so she decided to sell the goods out so that they will not be completely damaged because she applied every chemicals she was advised to apply yet it didn't work.
She contacted one of her friends whom they do business together and told her , her condition, she was happy after she dropped the call because the friend said that there was a woman who works in the prison and is In charge of feeding prisoners who has been looking for the kind of goods she wants to sell. So this brought ventilation to Mrs bridget. She finally met with the prison officer and arrangements were made to convey the goods to the prison. Mrs Bridget's conveyed those goods with her money to Abuja where the prison was and delivered it. But the woman didn't pay her that day, she said she was given cheque, and because of stress she Mrs bridget should just go back home that she was going to send the money through bank for her. Because of that Mrs Bridget left Abuja and came back home and waited for days but she didn't receive any alerts. Hmm! She began thinking different things , was I scammed? No! My friend, the woman who introduced me to her said she knows her very well and moreover she took us to her house so I think. It is just the load at work that had been delaying it nevertheless let me call her. And she called, then the woman apologized and claimed she was so occupied that was why she couldn't send the money but there is a an opportunity on ground, there is job vacancy here, I don't know she said, if you have anyone whom you would love to secure this opportunity for. In Nigeria job is very hard to get and this job the woman was offering was a federal government job. It has a lot of advantages. Alright said Mrs Bridget let me think about it first, I will get back to you. After a lot of thoughts Mrs bridget called back and said yes, I have someone but how do we do it? Meanwhile Mrs. Bridget's first daughter got married and her second daughter by name Susan is yet to marry and has certificate qualified for job. So her mom thought it is nice to get this job for her. Atleast she would have a helper and the burden would be less on her if her daughter is working. So Mrs. Bridget asked okay how do we do it, the prison woman said you have to buy the job, but since It is obvious you don't have money , seeing you are just but a food seller and Petty trader, why not let's just use the goods you brought in exchange for the job? Hmmm! It was a tough one for Mrs bridget the goods are not her's but she said fine since the job is well assured. Atleast she would get the money to pay her brother back as soon as they start paying her daughter not knowing that it was a great trap she was venturing into..when they finished the deal. That scammer deceived this poor widow , she received money for the goods from the prison but she held the money and refused to give the poor widow's daughter a job and neither did she give the widow her money.
Calls after calls but the woman would not pick, they went to her house but she was not always home it is only her children that are always home. Sometimes she would pick up the calls and say she has traveled other times she would not until she finally changed her lines and her numbers stopped connecting many visitation to her house would not solve the problem.
This poor widow is now in trouble, her brother came for his money and it was not there, and the goods too are no where to be found. He was so offended and asked her to pay the money. Because he was preparing to get married and he needed money. This woman became so frustrated and lacks what to do she wished she had not collected the money in the first place but there was nothing she could do now. She then decided to sell part of the properties she has to pay her brother little by little.
The Miracle (Salvation).
After many years, Mrs bridget came across a police officer coincidentally who is specialized in handling criminal cases most especially on fraudulent acts. And the started a conversation that led to her opening up to him about her issue, she didn't even know he was an officer of the law. After he listened to her carefully he gave her, her own faults but he swore that he would not rest until he brings that woman to book. He said he has been looking for such persons for long. Jobs are not for sale he said, if she was not willing to help she would have just let Mrs Bridget be. Why scam her? In her condition, he quickly filed her case to the court of law and an arrest warrant was given to him. Fortunate enough she was at home that day and when she tried to run he outran her with the two police officers that were given him and he arrested her and brought her to the court. He has to travel to Abuja to arrest her for she stays there , she has a house and bought a new car according to him .
The Court passed judgement on her, and she was asked to pay the money and also charged additional money for transportation. Apart from that she was sentenced to some months in prisonment because she denied the charges against her initially but she accepted it afterwards. She promised to pay the money, of which she started paying and she apologized and pleaded for forgiveness.
Who could have done this if not God ? The sweetest part of the story is this, Mrs Bridget took the remaining part of the money to her brother and explained things to him finally and apologized because he even got married and before this justice came after some years. Guess what the brother did? He took the money and gave her five thousand Naira (5,000) out of it. And told her the reaming balance which was about forty thousand Naira (40,000) he has left it for her. She should keep it. And he also apologized for being harsh on her. She came back home that day rejoicing with her face full of smiles and laughter.
Did I miss something? Oh yes! Pardon meπ bring it back, bring it back. After two years Mrs Bridget son got a job with the Nigeria custom service and took over the responsibilities of the family from his mother. Built her a house and well we don't know his next move, probably he gonna buy her a car soon.ππ
Finally I would love to say that justice is in the hands of God, karma will always catch up with the wicked. No matter how long it takes, it will definitely come. What one sows is what he will reap. It is a natural law that can not be shaken.
The End.
