It was Not What I Thought It Is
By default the eyes are attracted to things that shines. That sensitive organ of the body loves to behold beautiful things. That on it's own is not bad but depending on the eyes for judging thing is very risky. We need to as well employ other sense organs to assist us in making deductions, So that we don't end up getting deceived.
Over the years, I have heard the proverb not everything that glitters is gold and I didn't really comprehend the meaning until I had a first hand experience. We need to understand that gold is not the only mineral that glitters, there are lower minerals that glitters in the similitude of gold. Anyone who is not careful enough can fall a victim of going for such instead of a gold if they should be placed side by side.
A lot of people today are in a rush, a little sound there and they are already running towards that direction, a little illumination here and you see the crowd rushing towards it, only to discover that it was fake after wasting their time and efforts to arrive there.
Friends judging from a distance can kill, judging with only one sense organ is very dangerous. Don't just accept a thing simply because it looks great on the outside, it could be false. Check the planet, there are different bodies that emits light in the night revolving around the earth but that doesn't make them a moon.
Recently I went to the market to get a bed sheet and a lot of them were brought before me to select the one that I like, actually I check them thoroughly but they seem not to be what I want and I can't really tell why. While I was almost concluding that I was not going to buy anymore.
The guy brought one beautiful bedsheet full of colors and wonderful design, gosh! you need to see it for yourself. When I saw it my heart said guy! This is it. I could not take my eyes off it but I didn't show much interest because you know all this Nigerian vendors, when you show them that you like a thing, they will increase the price.
So, what I did was after he dropped it, i picked it and you know what? I didn't even bother to check it properly because I was like this thing is very beautiful, so no need , it should be good. I paid for the bedsheet and brought it home.
At home, I didn't bother to still open it, I just dropped it and continued with my activities until the next day and guess what I saw when I spread it on the bed? It has torn and it's already wearing out. I really felt bad when I saw it. I thought of returning it but it has already passed the night at my place. Inorder not to cause any trouble, I just forgot about the idea of returning it to the vendor. I took it to a tailor instead and have the part that tore stitched.
As I am talking to you right now, the bed sheet is already showing signs of tearing again. I wish I looked beyond the outward appearance and checked it before purchasing but it's too late.
Lessons
I learnt that not everything that is beautiful on the outside is truly beautiful inside. One needs to be very wise when it comes to selections not just in buying material things but in all spheres of life even in selecting life partner. The fact that he/she looks pretty on the face doesn't mean he/she is a saint. We must learn to thoroughly put a thing into test before we make conclusion. The eyes can be very deceptive at times.
