But it is funny how, despite all the myths and negative talk about money, it is one of the most sought-after things in our world.
Day in, day out, people are tirelessly looking for money. The more they have, the more they want.
The truth is, money doesn't satisfy, as long as our needs don't have an end, that is how our desire for money will never have an end.
And even if we eventually succeeded in solving all our problems, we would still need money because we wouldn't like to ever go back to broke days.
The controversial saying that “money doesn't bring happiness” doesn't sit well with me, but everyone is entitled to their opinion; probably, those who said it did so out of their personal experience.
Money is a tool that can become anything in the hands of anyone who wields it.
It can either be a blessing or a curse, depending on motive and how it is being sought.
I am not ignorant of the fact that some people have legal money, yet they are not happy. They have the ability to get anything they want in the world, but they are still not happy, and that's sad.
Does that mean that in the end, all this struggle to get rich is not salvation?
Well, the answer depends on individuals; there are people who are rich and are still happy. Why? Because they chose to be happy.
How can you even expect money to make you happy? I know that money stirs emotions, but it can not give anyone genuine and lasting happiness.
Money is something that is in our lives to make life better, and not necessarily to make us happy.
If you want to be happy, regardless of your financial status, you have to choose it because life will always give you reasons not to be happy, regardless of whether you are rich or poor.
So, saying money doesn't bring happiness doesn't even sound logical to me in the first place.
Thinking that when you get rich, you will automatically become happy is a wrong mindset that demands an immediate correction.
If you ask me how one can stay grounded in the midst of the noise to get rich, I will tell you to practice contentment.
I don't mean you should be satisfied with being average, but be grateful for where you are and what you have. See the need to celebrate your little wins and little growth while you keep hunting for bigger ones.
Never think that when you have money, all your problems will disappear. Accept the fact that there will always be ups and downs in life, but learn never to quit.
Always remember that money is not everything in life. It's not everything that money can afford. Don't kill yourself or do anything that will bring you regret because of money.
Lastly, know that there is a time and a season for everything. Don't skip the process, don't rush life. Go at your pace.
As long as you are not idle, keep building yourself, keep upgrading your skills, keep the effort going; one day, your time will come.
