I had a long thought about this writing prompt, looking back at my school days, from primary education to tertiary education, it has been a long journey. thinking about the teachers I have encountered in all this years is not an easy feat but thinking of it, I don't think I have ever been a fan of adoring a teacher as a person, in the sense that, I adore their teachings not their personality. I guess I have encountered a lot of mean teachers over the years🤣.
So instead of grading the teachers I have encountered through their personality, attitude and behaviour, I will be focusing more on their teaching techniques.

My primary school days memories have faded, I could barely remember the names of teachers, I only have memories of the subject, since the purpose of this write up is based on teachers, it is better to focus on teachers that I still have memories of.
MY FAVOURITE TEACHER
Having to pick a teacher among numerous teachers I have encountered, is not going to be easy instead I will pick one each from my secondary school days and higher institution.
my secondary school is a very popular boarding school in the heart of the city of Sagamu in ogun state, Remo divisional high school (RDHS), it spreads across many acres of lands to the far edge of Kara-sabo Sagamu, filled with a lot of passionate and we'll trained teachers.

Among many of them is my agric teacher, my first encounter with him was in Junior secondary school (JSS1), Mr enigbonjaiye enitan, due to the longevity of his name, we call him Mr Eni, A typical Yoruba man.
Not that he is the best among all but his technique of teaching surpasses the rest, he is one of the reasons why I grew interest in the practice of agriculture based on his manner of teaching. Mr Eni is of the perspective that the best way to teach students is through practical, so any time we have his subject for example soil, we will bring different type of soil to class to differentiate among the type of soil.
Due to his intense interest in the practice of agriculture, he created a program in the junior school, that allows student to plant on a sum of land and harvest it, though these privilege is basically for JSS3 and SS3.
During one his teachings, we were discussing livestock animals, after the class he took us the school farm, That was the first time I was chased by an angry domestic pig 🤣, those creatures are fast, I nearly ran out of breathe while running 🤣🤣.
Due to his pattern of teaching, agricultural studies has the best grade among other subject because during the exam it is always easy for the student to remember the practicals they undergo even if the student didn't read much about the subject. he was an icon, he was awarded many times for his devotion to teaching and practice of agriculture. On the scale of 1-10, I will give him 8
Back to my higher institution experience with teachers also known as lecturers, my second favourite lecturer is Dr. Funmi Alakija, a senior lecturer and former H.O.D in the department of mass communication, moshood abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta ogun state, she taught me subject courses in HND such as critical writing, review and critic.
Though my favourite of the subjects is review and critic which is the foundation of my interest in writing movie reviews. Dr Alakija is an outstanding lecturer in my department, though she is mostly labelled as the "witch" due to her furious anger towards student who lack ethical and moral conduct, especially students who are fond of immoral dressing, you dare not wear slippers, skimpy dresses or crazy Jean to Dr funmi Alakija classes and she doesn't tolerate the act of lateness to lecture.
Due to this act she was hated by many but loved by those who understood the value of what she was trying achieve. she was able to reduce the act of indecent dressing in the department of mass communication in Mapoly, among many others, Dr funmi Alakija does not force student to buy textbooks or award marks to students that buys textbook unlike many other lecturers in the department that has made it an habit of imposing unnecessary sanctions on student who refuses to buy textbooks.
Due to this act also, Most lecturers disagree with her and call her names, I guess speaker of truth has no friends. Dr funmi Alakija manner of teaching is far different from the rest, she is not a fan of textbooks definitions, she encourages student to read and come up with their definitions based their perspective of the subject, she appreciate student opinions during class and her class is always interactive.
Dr. Funmi manner of making exam script is different, maybe because she spent a lot time abroad, she is not of the attitude of sadistic marking of the student exam script. You can quote scholars for Dr Alakija but she is more interested in your opinion not definition, student barely fail Dr Alakija courses because of her manner of marking and teaching, on the scale of 1-10, I will rate her 10.
THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED
Among many other worst teachers I have seen, this so called lecturer is on top of the list. he made my best course subject my worst nightmare. Dr Yinka Adeosun, he is a known lecturer in the department of mass communication Abeokuta with is devious and unethical pattern of lecturing.
Let me start from his manner of teaching, despite him being a PhD holder, the concept of teaching is still Alien to him, first two hours of his teaching period is used either for cursing the student or insulting other lecturers in the department, his transfer of aggression, anger issues and mood swings can't be compared to any other lecturer I have ever encountered.
His areas of concentration is broadcast, I have been a broadcast student from day one of my life, it is one of the reason I did my industrial training in Lagos traffic radio, a broadcast entity in Lagos state.

it is of no doubt to consider myself being exceptionally good in broadcast subject both in practicals and theories, at least I supervised and conducted more than 18 broadcast practical during my higher national diploma, even other group leaders for practical tends to consult me for their group programme script writing.
If it weren't for my passion for broadcast he would have killed my interest in it, he is one of the lectures that take pleasure in failing his students and boasting about it during lectures. the students protested against him for his improper manner of marking and gender bias.
Reading is not enough to pass his course, you need to pray for grace🤣🤣, because he doesn't mark the script by himself, he gives it out to other students who have little understanding of the subject.
Though I was given an opportunity to work in my school studio after I graduated, a courtesy of Mr orunsola, the studio coordinator, I had to refuse the offer because I didn't want any encounter with my broadcast lecturer, he did not like me much because I once led a protest against him, he would have failed me on purpose if he had the opportunity, I had to read and write in exams twice as any other broadcast student in order not to give him a reason to fail me, it was not an easy battle at all.
He is the reason why we have less student in broadcast and more student in print because student are terrified of his manner of grading.
After the conclusion of my Higher national diploma, I concluded that, teaching is not meant for everyone, it is a skill and talent not just a profession.
