Holla readers, it is another edition of weekly featured content titled the perfect January 1st by hive learners community. unlike every other weekly prompt that is based on true life events, this is will be taking an imaginary turn.
Every human has cravings, days they wish could come into play but it is just an imagination. the funny thing about imaginary event is they only exist in memory, some come to pass but most imaginary event are just too good to be true.
This is something have never really thought about, though I write a lot of fictional poetry but I try to avoid hallucination caused by inner cravings or desire which is not so good for my sanity. in most cases people tend to imagine event to escape the harsh reality of life.
If I'm to think about an imaginary perfect first day of the year celebration, it would be an impossible wish. While growing up, my maternal grandmother stayed with us especially during the holidays. she narrates different tales of events that unfolds during the new year celebration. she tells us tales during the cross over night even if some sound too good to be true, she manage to keep us awake during the night.
She gives us the home made sweet she brought along while coming from her home town, the amazing taste of the home made sweet is one of the wonderful memory I have of her. As a child during the celebration especially when fireworks are being displayed I was so terrified of the noises, I was really sensitive to sound, she would come up with different stories to calm my nerves.
The most memorable aspect is during the new year celebration, when we slay few chickens and prepare it for the event, the chicken legs belongs to the kids, that rule was made by my maternal grandmother, as at then I was the last born, I enjoyed chewing the chicken legs a lot, I run around the house feeling so delighted.
She made me feel less lonely especially when I get into fight with my elder brother, she always take my side but never shy away from scolding me if I'm wrong. there are a lot of packaged prepared by her during the celebration.
Yeah, if I'm to wish for a perfect January first celebration, it will be to celebrate New year with her once again, to listen to her cross over tales and have her supply me with chicken legs despite it being childish it is one of my best childhood memories.
My maternal grandmother passed away about five years ago, the void her passing away created is not the type to be filled by anyone, we all miss her in our own different ways but generally we miss her fellowship songs during the cross over night of the new year, despite her being a Muslim that never stopped her from celebrating with us in the Christian way, she made me believe that religion is just an organisation created by humans but true connection with God should be spiritually related and no one should take up argument defending any religion, " let the Gods do their fighting" "why fight for them when they are not powerless. those are her words.
Are ideal perspective of life is one the things that made me who I'm today, New year celebrations has never been the same ever since she left, may her soul rest in peace.
Doesn't it sound impossible, well our desires and cravings differs.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY
