The most amazing thing about December is that it is filled with cheerfulness due to the attachment of festivity. Christmas and New year being one of the most celebrated holidays in Nigeria comes along with feelings of excitement and vibes from the surroundings, it is the time of the year when gifts and luxurious items are in the atmosphere for a grab.
It is the time of the year where every activities of the whole year will be evaluated and preparations for new year celebrations are made and in my case, this is also the time I come with new year resolutions, though I'm still a little undecided about this due to the way this year turned out😂, hopefully next year will turn out better.
This year has been hectic due to my delayed final year result and all, which has affected my preparation and plans for this month. for instance by this time of the year I'm still doing processing final year clearance and preparing to be mobilised for NYSC by February next year which was something I thought I would have gotten over if my results was not delayed.
Regardless of how everything tuned out there are still some things that must be done which I consider to be a tradition in my family, I have always made significant contribution in my family in December in preparation for Christmas celebration. we all have our share of work. as the second son of the family my roles are mainly to obtain necessary items for the Christmas celebration. things such as any meaty substance e.g chickens, goat e.t.c

My family enjoy the raring of livestock such as chicken, goat, rabbit and catfish. it is this time of the year we would select which livestock should be used, in most cases, this process go through a family vote. the reason is that, the livestock we have In my family is a collective effort of every member of the family but it is owned by a specific member of the family. for instance, livestock such as goats is owned by my dad and elder brother. the catfish is owned by my mom, while the poultry chickens and rabbit farm is owned by me
The selection of which livestock to be used depend on the growth and stability among the livestock. for example, last year the livestock that made the highest profit was the fish pond, so we took majority of fishy stuff from the fish pond. this year it is the rabbit farm which is controlled by me. as far as I'm concerned I do not enjoy consuming of domestic rabbit meat so we decided to make use of the profit instead to get the things that are needed.
Though I'm not currently around to oversea the whole process because I'm presently in school processing my clearance but it will be done by my dad according to my instructions. our celebration for Christmas is always epic due to individual contributions, which is constant tradition in my family during this time of the year.
we will be having this year celebration at the usual place and location, our family house at ikorodu. which has become a form of family tradition for us. I will eventually be at home soon but for now I still have some academic stuff to take care of, believe me I wish the case could be different.
