Holla readers and fellow prestigious hive bloggers, it is another edition of weekly featured content titled "FILTERS" in hive learners community
As a result of technological advancements around the globe which came about the introduction of digital devices. This has made life a lot easier and contributed positively to our day to day activities. amidst the whole technological development comes another device most common of all, known as smartphones which comes with a particular feature that has influenced the purchasing pattern of users and promote excessive consumerism. This feature is know as Camara, which comes in all kinds of shapes, sizes and types.
Though, arguably Invention of camaras has been in existence before the introduction of smartphones but as a result of technological convergence which has merged both devices together for easy use and access for users, especially those who base their career on photography or videography capturing of spontaneous shot at unexpected moments, smartphones could be of great help.
As a graduate from the department of mass communication, I have had series of practicals recorded on phone and taken to the studio for better editing by professionals, just to cut cost and save time, especially during recent times as a result of latest inventions by smartphone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, Sony e.t.c we now have smartphones with camaras that are more advanced and can be used for professional shots.
In regards to individual social life which is a very crucial aspect of every human life as we are mostly regarded as social animals. Social Media is popular in this category, known as a place where humans converse and make meaningful connections with others across the globe, though social media does more than that but let me just keep it at that to avoid irrelevant diversion from the topic at hand😅
One of the most popular way in which people display their social life and express themselves through social media is through pictures captured during their leisure time, as we all known pictures tell a lot of stories about a person and it preserves our memories. in order to beautify this amazing moments humans engage in this use of filters A photo editing tools that use artificial intelligence and computer vision to change facial features and picture backgrounds apart from the in-built pictures filters included in phones, Thanks to invention of some social media platforms and application such as Snapshot, tiktok, Instagram, Facebook e.t.c with their own filtering features which has made it nearly impossible for an individual not to engage in the use of filters.
DO I ENGAGE IN THE USE OF PICTURE FILTERS.
It came as a surprise to me but yes I do. I'm not trying to sound like a man from the 60s😅, I don't take pictures regularly apart from during rare occasions or I'm forced to or just feel like enjoying the moment, that is why most of my social media accounts looks so deserted😅.
Speaking of being forced 😅, that is a sbapchat picture of I and two of my female colleagues.
After the invention of apps such as Snapchat and the likes of it, I grew fond of taking pictures due to a lot of amazing picture filters available in the app. My likeness for the app can be traced to my female and some of my male friends, it became a trend among them especially after lecture hours, they never missed the opportunity of taking a picture or selfie.
As time goes by, I grew fond of it also but not obsessed like my friends, As a user of filters I don't consider anything wrong with usage of filters because if you say you do, well you have the right to your own perspective but majority of phones these days especially iPhone users, these phones automatically filter image immediately it is captured without you knowing. so if you don't want to engage in the usage of filters, I guess you have to give up on taking pictures entirely😅😅😅.
HAVE I EVER BEEN DECEIVED BY SOMEONE'S PICTURE BASED ON THEIR USAGE OF FILTERS.
Not trying to sound like a saint but I have never been fond of peoples' facial expression and beauty. So being deceived by a filter, I would say no but surprised definitely yes. for instance I remember being invited to a wedding ceremony by a friend of mine, we all got the wedding invitation each with the image of both bride and groom, they look really amazing but on getting to the venue we sat down but when I saw the groom compared to what was in the invitation card I was extremely surprised.
Not that he was ugly but the head of the man that was in the invitation card was far different from what we saw, to the extent that I had no choice but to ask one of my friends that, was the groom swapped?. they all laughed because they noticed the same thing but chose to keep quiet about it, so we had no choice but to play along😅😅.
That is all about my perspective about the usage of filters, what do you think?
