Countless times, I sit and just blame myself for not settling down to learn something of value. It could be a digital skill or a physical one such as fashion design and the rest, which I know by now I would have been seeing tangible results from it.
I for one can't blame my parents cause they did their best to enroll me in a fashion school right from my SS3 class but I left just when I was done with my West Africa Examination Council (WAEC). Everyone around me advised I stay put and learn the skill since it was just a matter of one or two years but I was so reluctant to listen to then because all I wanted to do was work and get paid at the end of the month. All said and done, now I realized how that skilled would have been of importance to me if i had stayed back and learn. Nevertheless I believe I can still start all over again but one enemy of mine is time, time of which I don't have like the popular saying goes, time waits for no man nether is time a friend to any man.
From my own experience and looking at how the country is gradually becoming into with education fading away bit by bit into thin air, one thing I'll tell the coming generation is to invest their time and resources into learning skills. I really can't pinpoint which they should all go for as each and every skills has it own value and serves different purposes. It could be a digital skill or a non-digital skill But the most important thing is they should learn one and be masters to the part they've choosing.
There is something have seen skills does a lot of time and it just leaves me flabbergasted. First it announces a man like when he or she is sure good at what they do, it gives them the visibility they've always wanted. But then like I said earlier they should grow to be good at it for it is one thing to have a skill and another to be consistent and delligent just like the Holy Bible says; "a man delligent in his work shall sit before kings and not mere men".
Dose that mean school is of no importance? Certainly not. Education is important just like handwork is and combining the two together makes one even more prepared to face the outside world. It also gives people the ideology you know what you are doing and open a whole lot of creative ideas when it comes to packaging and branding, knowing your right audience when it comes to running ads and lastly how to communicate effectively with customers. This is all what education does and more.
Lastly I want to also believe a man's skill dose not stop him from other white collar jobs especially when it is not so demanding and time consuming which at the long run both work becomes a source of multiple streams of income for him especially in times of Inflation.
