The power of information cannot be overemphasized as it is indeed a necessity and the number one key to unlocking lots of hidden mysteries. I believe so much that passing the right information is more like the popular saying that inscribe a problem shared is a problem half solved because when an information is correctly passed people tends to have detailed understanding as to how a thing was created and the next positive steps to take to rejuvenate the issue.
When it comes to proper sourcing of information, one way or the other both the government and the media has done the people no good since all the citizens of a country can't go to the government house when meetings are been held we all depends on both the television and radio stations which fall under the category of the media to help us with the matters arising but most times what we hear can be quite different from each stations which is not in any way good for the citizens.
Each and every year the government of my country (Nigerian) comes up with an unholy budget knowing fully well that the money was gotten from either world bank or any where, though for the good of the people so we think but at the end of the year yet there is for sure no valuable explanation as to how the country's budget money was spent leaving citizens to badly complain. I want to believe if there was a proper information complains of the people will be less whether the work was completed or not.
So with the question at hand, I honestly think it wise to be the right and best gift the government of a country can give to her citizens is by passing the right information to her hearing. Sure when the news is not a good one it tends to hurt but I bet it would only be for a while because it will warrant less questions and more of solutions. But in a situation where no one knows the truth it would only end up generating more and more questions as too why this? why that? with no or little solutions to help resolve things. I want to also believe that my people constant complain is due to the fact the presidency is yet to come up with a valid reason as to the sudden changes both in price of commodity and then the national anthem which of course Nigerians are eager to know the cause of the change which definitely makes us to be in the dark. And permit me to say it is a clear example that not getting the right information literally means subjecting the people to gross darkness not knowing left from the right.
so in excess am of the opinion that citizens have the right to know everything thing going on in their country regardless of the situation at hand.
