"A topic of my choice"—this is something I've wanted for a long time. We write about the specific topic given by hive learners, and we are bound to that particular topic, but today I have the freedom to write about anything I want to. This is the best decision so far.
Topic: The importance of mental health awareness
This is a topic that needs to be discussed at every level. Even in school, teachers should tell us how to cope with the situation. I talked about myself whenever I felt bad or not feeling good; I wasn't allowed to talk about these things to others. It's not allowed, or you can say it's not good to talk about your problems with others. I remember once saying to my mother that I'm not feeling well today, and she asked me the reason. I said nothing happened, but I don't know if I'm sad, and she started laughing while saying you're a kid and you're talking about sadness. Are you aware of the word "sadness"? And then I felt with the passage of time that we were brought up in the way that being sad is not good or talkable.
Why is it considered odd to go to the psychologist?
One of my friends' fathers passed away, and she was extremely attached to him. It's a big loss for her or for anyone whose father is no more. When she came back to the university after a few days of his father's death, she suddenly started crying in the class. It's normal to cry in these types of situations. I really felt sorry for her, and I wanted her to stop crying, but then our teacher saw us and asked the reason for her crying. I told her that she lost her father a few days ago and that she's in pain, which is why she is crying. The teacher said if she pays attention to what I'm saying, then she has no time for crying. I mean, how can someone say these types of words when they are already in pain? The teacher rudely said to focus on the lecture or leave the class. I was literally surprised to see the norms of a third-class society and why we are not giving space to others. Even we are making fun of others' pain. When she (my friend) came to the class, everyone asked the reason for her father's death. Every time she explains that she went through the same pain, We, as a society, are really cruel to others. We should learn the basics of ethics.
She went to the psychologist, and everyone thought that maybe she was going to be mad, which is why she needed a psychologist. I mean, seriously? Going to the psychologist makes us mad? I just hate these bad norms, which are meaningless.
I just wanted to say to those who are reading this post that talking about your problems is okay, but choose the right people. If you're not feeling well and have nobody to share it with, then go to the psychiatrist. It's not odd; believe me, it can reduce your pain.
Please be kind to others and take them seriously while others are not seeing the same in certain situations. Talk to someone nearby while they are in pain. These are the things that nobody is paying attention to.
These are some of my thoughts that I badly wanted to share with you guys. I hope we should learn the basic ethics and build healthy relationships among people.
