"And here comes the overall best student" is the statement I'm used to right from my childhood days even in the primary school which is also known as the elementary school. Fast forward to when i was in the secondary school, I'm a frontliner and among those that do represent the school in various competitions. Some classmates took offense at this believing we are teacher's choice while some drew close to observe and see the "secrets" of this succees. As the saying goes: "Fingers are not equal" and also, we all are different, distinct individuals with different abilities and capacities.
The truth is that some people seems to be at vantage position over others because of upbringing, wealth, influence, training etc, but in all, each one of us has something unique and valuable if only we discover and harness it. Competition brings about uniqueness, discovery and motivation unto success of embraced with an open heart. I believe unhealthy competition and rivalry stems from lack of personal identity, appreciation or discovery. The end result of such is usually frustration and hatred. Right from the conception of we humans there has been competition even as the sperms (millions of them) in a race movee towards the ova (egg) to fertilize it with the successful one been the "victor."
Life seems competitive akind off even as it takes alittle bit of it for survival even as each of us desires a better life and "competing for survival". But in all, i believe there must be a balance to how and what we compete for/with so as not to be extreme. If something is working for someone, we can pick a glimpse from it but it doesn't necessarily means thats what will work for the other. The more reason i believe in self discovery and harnessing one's strength while working on the weakness. I am totally against unhealthy and toxic competition as it is not the best anyone can be. Embracing healthy competition will however make room for individual growth, progress and development. Wherever there are humans or even animals, competition is inevitable somehow.
One of the ways to make for healthy competition is to avoid pride. If you are getting it right or things are working for you, never look down on others. For those who are yet to get it right, be humble to seek for knowledge of how things are done. Pride on both sides can be dangerous. Also, i will like for each of us to us the SWOT analysis as i learnt it during my undergraduate days. This analysis of strength, weakness, opportunity and threats can be a valuable knowledge anyone can know for a more productive and healthy competition and living. In all, competition will definitely occur either voluntary or involuntary even as we relates as humans, but keeping it healthy is the duty of everyone. Life is all about relationships which unhealthy competition might spoil and hence, need to exercise caution is very important. Thanks so much for reading even as comments and contributions are welcomed.
