We all know calcium is very important to the body, they have several functions which includes:
building of bones and healthy teeth
helps to make sure blood clots normally
it regulates muscle conteactions and heartbeat.
As well as calcium is very important, lack of it can lead to rickets common in children, and osteomalacia (softening of bones).
There are many sources of calcium
They include:
green Vegetables such as okra, curly kale.
milk, cheese and other diary foods
bread and foods made of flour
soya drinks with added calcium
bones of fish e.g sardines.
There are certain amount of calcium needed in your daily diet and you should not take excess.
Adults from 19 to 64 of age needs 700mg of calcium a day, this is what is recommended for daily consumption.
Note that too much of calcium can cause stomach pain and diarrhea, you should take the recommended amount daily.
You can take calcium supplements, but if it is above 1,500mg can cause harm.
