Hello Hive Learners👋, today i want to reflect on something I've learned outside school 🏫
School taught me how to read, write, and pass exams. I’m grateful for that. But as I grow, I’ve realized that some very important lessons were not taught in the classroom.
One thing school didn’t teach me is how to manage emotions. We were taught mathematics and English, but no one really taught us how to handle disappointment, fear, or pressure. I had to learn that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed sometimes and that resting does not mean giving up.
School also didn’t teach me how to fail and still move forward. Failure was often treated like the end, not a lesson. Outside school, I’ve learned that mistakes are part of learning and that failure can be a teacher if we’re willing to listen.
Another thing school didn’t teach me is self-belief. Grades were important, but believing in myself mattered even more. I learned that my value is not only in my results but also in my effort, growth, and consistency.
Lastly, school didn’t teach me that learning never ends. Real learning continues outside the classroom—through experiences, reading, observing others, and reflecting on life.
These lessons didn’t come from textbooks, but they are some of the most important things I’ve learned.
