Hi family and I'm excited to share with you on my perspective about first aid is very important and plays a vital role in the human endeavour today. I could remember right from when I was in secondary school, that was when I first heard the word first aid. Since then a lot has resonated in my head. Every one could be a first aider except if one doesn't understand and doesn't have a grip of what it entails. Knowledge is very powerful and essential whenever we talk about first aid.
From the name first, it implies that is critical and foundation. Before any other thing is done, you kindly consider it before other options. Aid simply means an assurance, help or to facilitate someone. Connecting the two words together, I can say that first aid is the first treatment giving to an injured person before any medical attention. First aid is the initial help or treatment rendered to a casualty as a result any injury or sudden illness before the arrival of a qualified medical personnel. First is the first consideration given to any one who sustains injury before an ambulance or doctor arrives or taken to health facility for further treatment.
As I said earlier, anyone can be a first aider if requisite knowledge is acquired because no one could predict when accidence or injury could occurred. If it happens what do you do? Accident could occurred at home, workplace, etc if it happens what do you do before further medical attention is called first aid. The aim of first is to actually prevent the injured person or casualty condition from getting worse. This is very important and worthy to note. Another aim of first aid is to enhance recovery or promote recovery from an injury. It's also aimed at preventing the condition from getting worse and to prevention complications that may arise.
who is a first aider?
A first aider is a person that gives the service in managing the condition of a casualty from getting worse. The responsibility of a first aider include; staying with casualty or injured person till further medical attention is available. He is also to ascertain the level of the condition of the casualty. The first aider need to also protect the injured from the scene for any danger. Always liaise with appropriate body for further action beyond your control. Don't claim to know everything instead learn to refer.
There was this day I was traveling to a local government around my area, the driver that picked me happened to be one of the staff with the federal road safety corps of Nigeria. As the journey proceeds, we got someone and suddenly saw a fresh car accident. The driver diverted into the bush and summer salted. When we stopped, our driver quickly rushed into the scene and picked the casualties with blood gushing out. He kept them in a safer place where the blood flow was controlled. After doing that he quickly picked his phone and call the road safety workers to come and pick them. Within few minutes they arrived and moved the casualties to a health facility for proper treatment. That was a good safety measure display by this man.
Something happened with me too during one of the Christmas celebrations, I was asked to slaughter chicken. In the process of cutting it into pieces, the knife mistakenly cut through my hands and blood started oozing out. I called my wife and she quickly brought salt and we tie it. After a while , it clothe and everything ceased. Hmmm trust African, I couldn't go for further treatment in a health facility again instead I managed the whole thing. Well it was a minor injury sha. I have had so many experiences at home and I had to deployed my first aid skills to salvage the situation.
