This is the third edition of week 104 engagement on this sphere. It gladdens my heart to bring forth this prompt at this time. It seems this is one of the best theme thus far for this year as far as I am concerned. I didn't think twice before I started writing. This edition focuses on what I want to be brought back. Though it has passed or happened before but I wished it could be brought back now. Follow me as I share some few things that I wished it could be brought back again.
One of the things I want to be brought back is the exchange school programme where a student can go any part of the country to study. This has been the tradition before. Infact, more than twenty six years ago after my common entrance exams I got the exchange programme to study at a federal government school in Kogi State. Though I couldn't go due to some reasons but at least my academic performance fetched me such privilege. Unlike what is happening now that even the exchange programme has gone extinction because of security issues, kidnapping and the corruption that has eaten dip into the educational system presently there by for such opportunity be given you would need to give a bribe. Where are those days where one is much free to go any where at anytime? Please bring back the exchange school programme. This programme allows the child to learn lots from a different environment and even state across the nation. At times the federal government also pays for utilities and even transport so that at the end you would have some chicken change in the pocket.
One of my boys though he's late now, got such programme about fifteen years ago. Immediately he got there, fortunately I was rounding up one of my higher level education. He stayed with me for a while then after session I could not see his break light again. When I returned home and started chatting with his mother, she said he won't go back again because of what he passed through. All my efforts proof abortive to restore him to the programme. They complained of the distance and negligence if government in playing their part of the promised. Besides feeding was quite challenging for their son. Sincerely this wasn't so at the beginning. Hmmm I wished the real school exchange programme can be brought back.
In my state more than twenty five years ago, we had free transport except for those going on long distance journey. Even at that there was subsidy because the transport fare was slashed such that the common man can also. Those buses were sound and always ply the roads across all the local government but presently hmmm it's quite disheartening to see the great variance at what is happening now compared to then. Movement now has been restricted simply because you are not sure of what next would happen. Just imagine the kind of bad road network we have now compared to those days. Abeg bring back the good tared road we had for smooth journey to and fro than the potholes roads I see presently. Even if roads are constructed, they aren't as quality as in those days. What a decline!!! Please bring back our roads and transport system.
Bring back our free medical health care centres we have enjoyed before. Where are they? Where are the sound and proficient medical personnel we had before? Where even an attendant can valiantly do better than the so-called medical assistance today. I wished I have the vector power to reverse time hmmm I would just done... I was told that in late 70s people go to hospital and they are properly attended to with even some gifts. Where are the days where you can be served food in the hospital free? Please bring it back.
As I round up, I noticed that parental love is diminishing in most families today. There is no genuine parental love again. Most parents are very busy chasing after career, money, businesses etc. Some parents have sold or given their children to nannies. They hardly sit down to teach them something. The godly virtue has been replaced with busy body hmmm no wonder we constitutes more nuisance. Bring back the genuine parental love again. I know of a family that the man works very far away from his wife and children. He only comes once in a while to check on them. Do you know that the children hardly relate with the man because they see him once in a while. No matter how desperate you are to make money, don't substitute it for the love you ought to show. Child up bringing is not just the responsibility of the mother alone but both father and mother. When this is missing, it will affect the character of the child.
Thank you for reading through and your comment is appreciated.
