This is my last post for the month of march and coincidentally it's exactly a year since after the demise of my beloved uncle. I wrote so much about him last year because it was truly a colossal lost to my family. Thank God for his preservation and protection throughout this moment of difficulty. To the entire management thanks so much for the opportunity again to drop my entry for this first edition.
The theme for this edition is quite amazing and it depicts what is currently happening with most citizens in my beloved country. The cost of living in my location is averagely ok even though to some it might be expensive. There are various locations in Nigeria and each of them have their respective ways how people live. There is affinity in every human to gain more and more. This has actually necessitates many people to leave their good place and move to another one.
I would like to share how the cost of living in my area is and my intention as wether to leave or stay. Generally everyone has reasons why he occupies a particular space or location and some of these reasons could either be of advantage or disadvantage. Here are some factors I considered significant in living where i am today.
- The first thing I would like to share is in the area of accomodation charges. The distance from my location to the state capital is almost 150km however that's not a yardstick that everything is just in a smooth run. I'm not the type that likes jumping around from one building to another. I have been staying in my apartment for a couple of years now. The reason why i like the environment is because the rentage is not so expensive like the people in the city and is affordable to me. I wouldn't want to leave where my earnings in a month or so can't afford it that would be a disadvantage. Due to the recent increase in prices of things, my landlord decided to inflate the rent by 20% to enable him cushion some things. Do I intend to move out soon? Oh yes but to my personal house as God provides.
- Feeding: this is another integral factor that makes living very interesting in my location. The price of food stuff is fairly ok that an average individual could buy and feed his family. Just today, my wife asked me to go buy bread for breakfast i told her we can buy something better and more in quantity than the bread at the same amount. I stepped out and bought some potatoes that fed the entire house to maximum. Comparing feeding here with other cities, apparently is better I maintained what i have than press on what i don't know.
- Transport. The cost of transportation is not ok unlike before where you could take a drop of okada for just N50.000 but presently a drop is 300 naira. Despite the price its still ok compared to the state capital.
- Security/light/Water. All these are what one must pay for if you want to continue living in my location. Initially it wasn't like this because there wasn't challenge of security. With the insurgency and insecurity issues everywhere, the community has mandated every household to pay a token of money to enable the youth keep watch over the territory. Even in the area of electricity, the rate at which our prepaid meter gets finished is alarming. Every two weeks we must subscribe. This would have been cheaper if i was to live in the village at least solar would be ok for me.
Conclusion
As i conclude, in general the cost of living in my area is friendly ok and one can live to impact his generation. I don't intend to change location rather I'm trusting God to build the base of my ministry there. This would help me to leverage on acquiring more land easily to achieve my life targets. I'm comfortable with what I have. Changing location would require more expensive because most states across the nation are going through similar things.
Thanks for reading through my entry for this edition.
