It's another beautiful Monday the beginning of a new week. The week was amazing for because I derived satisfaction all through the activities. I want to believe every participant is ready for the business of this first edition.
When I saw the theme, I started contemplating on how to address this subject. I was almost confused because presently I am not an employee but rather an employer. In this post, I will share my experience when I was an employee and the expectations I had.
Being an employee, I nursed a lot of things and I really appreciate God for such an organisation. Their impact over my life can't be overemphasized. I don't think you can can be employer without firstly being an employee. The truth remains there are lots of benefits when one is broken and open to new changes. Yesterday I had the privilege to visit a contemporary friend of mine with my family.
When I got to his place, he was stressed out because he had a hectic day. He was stressed out and needed rest before I came. He was excited to have me around after a long period of time we never saw ourselves. After exchanging pleasantries with him, he opened up to me that he would like to resign from his work because it no longer serve him. There are lots of things to be done but the present pay can't sustain him neither could it sort after the need of his family. The proprietor begged him to stay for a while as he continues with arrangements of getting another person.
My friend says no one can pay him however he can boldly tell me that he faithfully served as though the school belongs to him. He has sacrificed lot of things to the school. The school really squeezed him but it's for his own advantage because he has learnt lot. The organisation really instilled great virtue in him such that if he wants to start his own, there won't be challenge. He has learnt how to be innovative, creative and productive.
This is wasn't too far from my experience with the organisation I served before. I was there right from the foundation till where it is today. As an employee, I really benefitted in areas of competency and high performance. My background in management was really sharpen for better. I could handle classes and trainings successfully. I had a good delivery in area of client relationship. I managed all the clients in the organisation both local and international. This boosted me and my reputation also increased to a great level.
I didn't want to quit but there was high demand and most of the clients reside in Abuja therefore, my boss had to relocate and moved the organisation to Abuja presently. I refused to follow him because I had a family and two kids. It won't be easy to just leave together with them like that. It was when he left that there was a paradigm shift in me from employee to becoming an employer. I was able to harnessed the virtue and experience gathered to start up something before shortly then I got boarded on hive. It was hive ecosystem that made me see beyond now and bring out my potential to affect other people positively. At least now I am the one managing my business.
