The name vinegar tree most likely comes from the sour taste of the leaves, which contain a lot of tannic acid, but I do not advise you to taste the leaves, because the plant is poisonous.
This is a short tree, rarely grows up to 4-6 meters, most often the height is limited to 3 meters. At a young age, the tree grows upward, the older it becomes, the more it begins to grow in breadth. The tree is actively used in ornamental gardening because of its incredible crown, beautiful flowers. It is better to plant a tree in open spaces, where no one will interfere with it, because the more space there is, the larger and more beautiful the crown will grow.
Sumac spice is made from ground berries of sumach tanning. It is reddish-burgundy in color with a sour berry taste; it is used in Turkish and Levantine cuisines for dressing salads, and in the Caucasus - as a seasoning for barbecue.
Personally, I really like this tree, it's hard to take my eyes off it, every meeting with it causes me a storm of emotions.
