It's that time of the year we all look forward to, basically because of the holiday that gives us the opportunity to catch some fun, rest, and reunite with friends & family.
I am particularly one of those who take the Christmas holiday very seriously since I get to reunite with my friends. The majority of us don't get to see each other throughout the year; we are all busy trying to make ends meet, so the holiday is always a perfect time for us to sit together again.
This prompt reminds me of those years as an employee in an organization. Once it's December, I start preparing for the holiday from the first day of the month because the organization I work with doesn't give us enough holiday.
So part of my preparation is to encourage my team to make more than the usual sales, so when we take extra days for ourselves to enjoy the holiday, there won't be lapses, and we won't have issues with meeting our monthly target. The only thing that delays me at work till the 23rd of December is the staff yearly package. The company would intentionally delay the sharing of these packages just to ensure that every field staff member comes to work, but after I get mine, I switch to working from home except when called for a meeting.
A lot has changed in the last few years, and I am in control of my time. I can decide it's Christmas even in November, and no one will question me about it, so there is no pressure about rushing to take a break from work. Sometimes I work during the festive period since I don't spend more than 30 minutes at work, and sometimes, there is nothing to do when there are no fish in the ponds. Whichever happens doesn't affect my plans, and that's one of the beauties of working for yourself.
My plans for Christmas haven't changed in a while now, and it would interest you to know that the majority of the holiday is always spent at home.
I am mostly indoors since I have my family around; we get to do so many things together, and that's enough. I remembered a particular year when I insisted on going out with the family during the festive season. Everywhere we got to was filled up; we had to wait and eventually dragged ourselves home later in the evening. It wasn't the best outing for us, so I prefer spending my holiday at home, and we can hang out when the season is over. A lot of the fun spot will have less crowd, and we can enjoy ourselves as planned.
Aside from just enjoying the holiday with my family, hanging out with my friends is something I look forward to. I have these two batches of friends we meet every year, and that's me going out two times during the holiday season.
We do meet at a particular friend's house; it's like a rotation kind of thing, but we stopped. We now visit places, and it's more fun that way.
That has been my routine during the festive season for some years now, and it's cool. I believe the season is all about rest, fun, and creating beautiful memories so anything contrary to these doesn't work for me.
