Our wonderful community has decided to hold a fascinating round of competition and this theme is based on "Our favourite childhood TV show"
(The Photograph was taken with Samsung Galaxy Tab A and it is mine)
Interesting!
Child hood is a crucial period in our lives. It was made more fascinating by childhood movies. I grew up in Nigeria, a large country. The country has an interesting film industry called Nollywood, most of the films were set in Nigeria, and we had cartoon network channels on TV, not to mention foreign films that we brought in the form of CD plates. I had forgotten about errands severally because I was glued to the window of my neighbour watching TV shows and yes I would get punished but it never dampened my passion for my childhood movies
- TOM AND JERRY
Tom and Jerry reached into every nook and cranny of my life. It is definitely one of the most hilarious animations ever. It is a battle between a cat and a mouse, the cat is called Tom and the mouse is called Jerry.
They seem to always be in disagreement resulting to fights but the beauty of the movie was how exciting the traps were. It was really fun and exciting. It also showed some scenes of peace between both of them but they quickly went back to default.
- THE POWERPUFF GIRLS
If you had no idea about this closing theme song please you need to go back being a child.
"Blossom, commander and the leader
Bubbles, she is the joy and the laughter
Buttercup, she's the toughest fighter
Powerpuffs save the day...
Fighting crime, trying to save the world
Here they come just in time, the Powerpuff Girls
Fighting crime, trying to save the world
Here they come just in time, the Powerpuff Girls
Powerpuff!"
It was literally one of the best animation on Cartoon Network. I remember the three girls namely- Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup who had powers to fight against any enemy with the help of the Scientist too.
It showed love as a family, determination and of course action.
- BEN 10
BEN 10 was so popular and significant to us that we got customized Ben 10, rubber wristwatches, stationeries and so on. It was an obsession about Ben. Ben had a program on his wrist watch that enabled him to pick one out of the ten 10 special aliens to transform into.
Ben was really smart, fearless and confident. I had this notion that nobody could defeat Ben 10. I mean no body at all
- SCOOBY DOO
This song would play in my head
"Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?
We got some work to do now
Scooby Dooby Doo, where are you?
We need some help from you now"
I would say this was the most scariest movie while growing up because it was about discovering a mysterious thing. Scooby doo and shaggy were my favourite and they were also very scared of the creatures, Scooby doo was always jumping into Shaggy's hands out of fear while Velma was smart and bold. I saw Fred and Daphne as lovebirds tho
- HOME ALONE 2
The Christmas season was always a special season during childhood and it afforded me the opportunity to share love with my friends and family by seeing this funny movie called Home alone.
The name "Kevin" rang a bell, I was barely interested in the names of the cast but I paid attention to details as Kevin was able to defeat the thieves and take care of himself. The movie showed comedy, love, family values, friendship and fun
- OSUOFIA IN LONDON
I come from Nigeria 🇳🇬 and we have a very big movie industry called Nollywood. It would be unfair not to mention this movie because there is barely no one in Nigeria who is not aware of this movie.
The theme song "Osuofia ooo, Osuofia in London" is an everlasting gem as it gave purpose to the movie. It was based on a man called Osuofia who leaves Nigeria for the United Kingdom to inherit his late brother's property for the first time in his life. The cultural difference between UK and Nigeria affected him, how he struggled to adapt with certain rules in the United Kingdom made the movie very funny. He returns back to Nigeria with his new wife as everyone seem very surprised to see a foreigner with him
- AKI NA UKWA
The movie was based on two movie legends in Africa popularly called Aki and Pawpaw. The fact that these two are dwarfs makes it easy for them to act the role of little kids effectively, this made them very funny to watch. They were adventurous, determined, stubborn and funny. We spoke about them almost everyday of our lives.
They made childhood very beautiful, till date we have memes with their faces.
- THE LION KING
It is always beautiful to watch movies with African root and this is one very beautiful movie. Yet again the theme song "Circle of Life" has to be one of the greatest songs on earth..
I could not sing it completely when I was young but I enjoyed it as described the essence of the movie which was based on Simba the young cub of Mufasa who was killed by his jealous and wicked uncle Scar. The beauty of this movie is the fact that Simba faces through all challenges to return back to his land and take what rightfully belongs to him as the Lion King..
