Hello friends, Happy Saturday. I hope you are enjoying your weekend.
This is the last edition of the weekly prompt. if you miss you can read my previous blog.
Living in a country where the government cares less about the healthcare system. I guess if they put more allocation and more care into the health system they won't be traveling to another country for health issues. Our doctors are finding ways to travel abroad because of how badly they are treated or paid.
I have heard many people complain from people who attend the hospital and how bitter they are. I'm so happy to God that I haven't been admitted to the hospital since I was a child. I attend hospital to visit someone or run a test on my health.
I prefer even taking my medication at home after the doctor's prescription, in a more comfortable and conducive environment.
Last year my mum was down in health. She fainted in church and immediately they called me from home and I went to church. We thank God she was later revived. It was a night service so we couldn't go to the hospital. The next day we visited the hospital to know the reason for that. I was at home because that was still the strike period so she woke us up early so I could join her because he was feeling very weak.
We got to the hospital by 7am in the morning so as to be one of the early attendants before other patients came. First the nurse asked us to buy an attendance card to see the doctor. That was around $5. We paid and the nurse asked us to sit at the reception desk at the hospital where the doctor is busy.
My mum didn't eat that morning, so did I. She refused to eat anything but asked me to go buy something nearby. Due to the whole incident that night, I lost my appetite and decided to stay with her.
We stayed 1 hour with no doctor. We asked and the nurse spoke to us harshly. Well I decided to stay cool.
Due to the incident I couldn't sleep at night so I slept off at the reception when I woke up, it was already 4 hours we had been waiting. I got really angry and asked the nurse. What was the problem? We were among the first people and up to now we haven't seen the doctor.
I was so angry that I raised my voice at her and my mum calmed me down. Maybe because we stayed calm since we came, that's why they treated us that way. Maybe if we were to be one of the rich men we would be given first hand treatment and attention.
I was bleeding inside of me but didn't show it because I didn't want my mum to feel bad. In my heart, I had to say to myself I will never be poor in my life. After a few minutes the doctor came out and I had to explain everything that had happened and what happened to my mum yesterday.
After a series of tests and check ups it was said to be low blood pressure. And the funny part is that the doctor didn't waste much time in examining her so why all the waste of time. What if it was a very serious case that needed an emergency?
It wasn't a good experience and I was really disappointed.
To be sincere, I haven't gotten a good impression or maybe because I don't visit the healthcare system that often.
