There has always been this idea that grows inside of us as humans that makes us think that our body is ours and we can do whatever we like with it. Well, I do think that too, and it’s just really funny. Why? Here’s why. Have you ever imagined someone who borrowed your device; a phone, and after that, he or she changes the pouch and password even when he or she will be returning the phone the next day? That’s absurd, right? That’s exactly the same way we should feel when we say our body is ours and we can do whatever we want to it. Our bodies are only for us to take care of, and we have no rights to take or add anything without contacting the owner.
You see that little write-up above; that’s just something I want you to keep in mind as we go through this topic about ORGAN MARKET. It’s no news that selling organs is unethical worldwide and illegal. But what about a case when the person selling the organ(s) is also the one from whom it was extracted? Well, medically, there is no experiment that is carried out without the consent of the subject to be used. So with that in mind, medically, as long as the donor accepts to sell his or her organ, it can be done but that’s after several questions and persuasions, of course.
But then, thinking about it from the illustration I started with, do you still think that as humans we have the right to do whatever we like to our bodies without the consent of the owner? The big question now is, how can we ask our Creator what and what we should use our bodies for? Well, the truth is we can’t directly ask Him those questions, but if for anything, we can trust His words in the Holy Bible or basically just take care of our bodies as the caretakers that we are, just like the way we would want that friend to take care of our stuff without tampering with it.
I know there are cases when we feel helpless, but then, I’m only human like you too, and I might also think selling my organ is my choice and go ahead with it, but that’s my choice and consequences to bear. All I know is that my body is not mine because I didn’t make it the way it is. Someone supernatural and supreme did, so I have no right whatsoever to just wake up and do whatever I like to it. If I do, I will have a lot of answering to do, and I’m sure there will be no judge to save me or help me win that case.
I know the world of science and technology is evolving every day, and we have the opportunity to save lives through organ transplants and all, but we should be very wary of these opportunities, especially when it starts tampering with the natural order of things. I’m probably talking this way because I’m privileged to be whole and not needing any organ donation or having anyone around me who I can actually save with one of my kidneys. But then, I still feel some things are not just in our place to decide or control, and we should learn to accept that.
Thank you for reading through. 💜
