2025 was one year I knew I had the mind to get stuff for myself. All my life, people have been the ones giving me most of the things I need, and I just didn’t see the need to get some things for myself anyway. It was good, but it also had its downsides. I always find it hard to get things for myself now because I’m used to being on the receiving end. Also, because of that, I’d rather buy things for others than buy for myself because others gave me most of the things I needed, and I had enough to give to others most of the time too.
So for this 1st edition of the Hivelearners topic on EXPENSIVE, I’ll be sharing with you one of the most expensive things I bought in the past year. It’s interesting now that I’m thinking about it because the past year was almost similar, but the difference was that this time, people didn’t give me items that much; they gave me money to get the things I needed myself. So the past year, I was able to get a few things that were really expensive, but most of them were sponsored by someone.
Well, I had this one expensive item that I bought myself in the past year. It is a headset. Back then, I had a lot of recordings I planned to listen to and also for my music videos too. I had quite an experience with that buy because it was my first time. The first time I went there to buy the headset, I was given a very beautiful pink-colored one, and I liked it, but somehow, it refused to come on. Good thing I tested it there. After multiple attempts of charging it, I told them that I’ll charge it myself at home and if it doesn’t work, I’ll bring it back.
When I got home, I tried using my power bank to charge it, but nothing changed. I couldn’t wait until the next day. I went back to give it to them. They offered to charge it themselves and give it back to me the next day, but I refused and asked them for either a refund or a different one. Sadly, that was the only one they had for that particular product, but at that point, I just wanted to be done with the whole purchase, and that’s when I was given a black JBL headset. Immediately I saw it, I just liked everything about it, and when we tested it, it worked perfectly fine.
In the end, I was happy for the purchase, and I’m glad that I didn’t get scammed in the end. I was able to get something worth my money, but honestly, I don’t think I’ll want to buy that again. Right now, I’m taking good care of this one I have already because that is not something I wish to buy every now and then. I have so many other things I wish to spend my money on this new year, and headset is not on that list of things.
