We are living in a digital world, and in this digital world, technological development is impressive, which can be considered magical, and social media is an output of advanced technology that made communication easy and faster for us.
Because of social media now we can communicate easily with others, and it's just a matter of a few clicks. So making friends in the virtual world is not surprising. It's quite interesting because through social media we can make friends without meeting them face-to-face. Messages, audio, and videos are the way of communication. Obviously, the relationship is not the same as in the offline world because understanding people on social media is quite different. What kind of relationship can be considered a healthy relationship online?
To be honest, the answer to it is quite complicated because there is no ideal relationship in the offline world, and considering online relationships is quite tough because sometimes it's hard to understand that we are actually talking with a genuine person, and the shown identity of them can be fake because there are many examples of it. Still, I can set some criteria for a healthy relationship in the virtual world just based on my judgment, and my judgment can be wrong also because it's just my thoughts, and it's not necessary that my thoughts are right. So, let's start with it.
Communication is the most important thing in any kind of relationship, and in the case of an online relationship, it's also the same. By the way, I am talking about all kinds of relationships, not only romantic ones. It's not necessary to communicate with the other person every day, but there should not be a long-term break in communication because it can affect the relationship, as it's not as strong as offline. Offline, even if we communicate with another person after a long time, the feeling remains the same. However, the appearance of a person online is not as strong as offline. So consistent communication is the recruitment of a healthy relationship online.
Time is limited for everyone, and most people focus/prioritize more on offline activity than online activity. Remaining busy in the offline world is very natural, and managing time sometimes for virtual friends is hard. So, virtual friends need to understand a person's busyness and give space to the person when needed. If one thinks that the person is ignoring him for that, it will impact the relationship easily. So it's necessary to understand and give some space.
Online friends stay far from one another, and naturally, most of the time, it's hard to offer a helping hand to another friend. I am ignoring the financial part too because it's a complicated thing. But I think an online friend can offer a helping hand through meaningful advice and providing mental support. And it makes the bond stronger.
Obviously, there must be a boundary for it because I believe that it doesn't matter if it's online or offline; there is a boundary as a friend or as a partner. Too much curiosity is not good and affects a relationship easily. An online friend should know how far he can go for curiosity. Overstepping the boundary can only destroy an online relationship, and an online friend should understand it well.
