If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. But again, as the dreamer that I am, I cannot not make a wish. As I sat there, palms cushioning my jaw and eyes staring into nothingness, I imagined what it would be like to have some time away from the haste and busyness of the life I had now.

Waking up early to do sumo squats and planks after devotion, putting on my lenses to begin clicking away at my laptop while thinking of what I could have for possibly breakfast and lunch. Then scurrying about looking for what to put on after a cold shower and hurrying off to class. Sometimes without the preplanned breakfast.
From sitting for a maximum of four hours to listening to old tales supposed to be an educative lecture, I would go get something to snack on if I'm lucky enough, Even the interesting ones could barely hold my attention when my stomach was rumbling fiercely.
Then I would hang around for production rehearsals. I shook my head, sighing wistfully. It wasn't like I was discontented, I wanted something exciting for a change. Even if it was in my dreams.
“Treasure!” I sighed. That was another of my nightmares. I couldn't have 5 minutes of alone time without interference.
“Do I owe you?” I turned to look at my roommate who had her feet apart and her hands on her hips.
“Have you forgotten you said you're making dinner? It's almost 7 pm”
I dragged myself up and walked into the house without a word, still in the gripping hold of my dreams.
“What are you sulking about? You were all bubbly a couple of minutes ago.”
I picked the blackening bunch of plantain I was supposed to fry and began to wash them in a bowl of water.
“I'm not sulking, I'm thinking.”
“Tinkerbell” she snickered, I could tell she wanted me to spill but I wasn't going to make it easy for her, so I kept mute and began peeling off the skin on the plantain. After some minutes in unbearable silence, she crouched beside me with a kitchen knife to assist. “So, are you going to tell me or what?”
I did my best to hide the part of my face that was widening into a smile then cleared my throat.
“Where would you go for an adventure if you had the time and resources?”
She flickered her lashes at me and then sucked her teeth loudly.
“I knew it would be something weird, you weirdo.”
I shrugged “You wanted to know.”
“I don't know. I haven't thought about it. What about you?”
I let out a dreamy sigh.
“Thailand.”
She chuckled. “You want to go on an adventure just to eat?”
“I don't follow,” I told her.
“Thailand is famous for its food. What else would be your aim for choosing it?”
I shook my head slowly, finally bringing my gaze to rest on her curious face.
“I'm going for the food, you're correct. But there is so much more. Imagine a place where I could be surrounded by water and breeze and a quiet environment, where my mind can run as wild as possible without you interrupting me…” she smacked my arm causing us to giggle.
“So, there's an island in Thailand, what else?”
“The cosmetics too. The mud face masks and mineral water for the skin, I just want to rest. Be relaxed without worrying about anything. I want to be in a place where I can be fed without waking up to crack my poor skull on what to eat or spend my time preparing a food menu that I hardly end up following.”
She snatched the plantain I had been holding all along in my hands “You’re just lazy. If I leave you to cook this food, we will eat in our dreams”.
“I'm not done talking…” I shot her a warning glance. She knew better than to cut me off when I was talking excitedly, especially when she was the one who induced it. “Do you know I could go from island to island on a boat there? Imagine how many short stories I would write on such a journey!”
“Tell me why you get inspired by water if you’re not a mermaid,” she said eyeing me warily.
“Don’t be such a killjoy, we just got to the best part. You know I could also hike to caves and temples, like the “footprint of the Buddha temple” ...”
“How did you get all this information?” I don't know if it was shock or admiration, but I loved the look on her face.
“Google…”
She shook her head in disbelief.
“Don’t worry my dear, I just need some time and money, and all this I have mentioned will be mine”.
