A CLEAN LEGACY IS BETTER THAN A WEALTHY DISGRACE
“My Mother’s Day message to the younger generation is simple: stay away from shady deals, dirty money, and criminal shortcuts. A clean name is more valuable than stolen wealth. There is no honor in fraud, no dignity in criminality, and no glory in deception. Build clean legacies. Build legitimate businesses. Build honorable names. Build wealth you can defend publicly and proudly. The money may come fast, but disgrace can come faster. Doom, dishonor, exposure, public shame, legal battles, and generational embarrassment often follow dirty wealth.
There is a saying my father told me while growing up: “The evil that men do now lives with them. It no longer lives after them.” At that time, I did not fully understand the depth of those words, but today, life, experience, investigations, politics, leadership, and reality have taught me exactly what he meant.
This is my Mother’s Day advice to the younger generation.
Whatever you are doing that is shady, fraudulent, manipulative, illegal, or illegitimate, stay away from it while you still can. Whether it is analog Yahoo, digital Yahoo, political fraud, financial fraud, cybercrime, betrayal, land grabbing, manipulation, or any dirty business dressed as success, please understand that consequences may delay, but they rarely disappear.
Many young people think because they escaped the law in their youthful days, they are untouchable forever. No. Life has a way of preserving evidence. Track records remain. Documents remain. Victims remember. Families remember. Generations remember. Those tears, pains, stolen properties, manipulated contracts, destroyed destinies, and ruined lives leave traces behind.
In Nigeria, some people may get away with things temporarily because of power, money, influence, immunity, connections, fear, or silence. But one day, immunity expires. One day, power changes hands. One day, a David rises against a Goliath. And sometimes, that David is not sponsored by anybody. Sometimes, divine authority strategically positions someone to demand accountability.
That is why I tell young people today: build clean legacies. Build legitimate businesses. Build honorable names. Build wealth you can defend publicly and proudly. There is no honor in fraud. There is no dignity in criminality. There is no glory in deception.
The money may come fast, but disgrace can come faster. Doom, dishonor, exposure, public shame, legal battles, and generational embarrassment often follow dirty wealth.
People lost properties.
People lost businesses.
People lost opportunities.
Some even lost their lives.
People lost money and sources of income. And today, Sandra is bringing what many feared for years, accountability!
Happy Mother’s Day to every young person out there. Stay out of crime. Stay away from trouble. Stay away from shady deals. Protect your future while you are still young enough to do so.
