I love it when I come across new and catchy words. I always look forward to learning new words and improving my vocabulary. Today’s Hive Learners prompt is one of those moments. The topic for today is The Yuletide Season. Interestingly, this is my first time coming across this word, so I had to check the dictionary. According to dictionary.com, yuletide is sometimes used as another word for Christmastime, the Christmas season. The Christmas season is fast approaching, and for today’s prompt, the Hive Learners community asks what our plans are for the coming celebrations.
About a decade ago, Christmas used to be a big celebration in my household. Back then, literally everything was different. The economy of the country was friendlier and more importantly, things were way cheaper. Back then, it was easier for my parents to buy lots of food, Christmas chicken, balloons and other decorations. We were younger and the euphoria that came with the Christmas season was pure and perfect. I used to enjoy celebrating Christmas. My long-distance relative would visit and spend days with my family. Gone are those beautiful days.
At some point, Christmas stopped being fun. Of course.,I guess life did its thing. Back then, we used to celebrate Christmas as a family, but now, we are all scattered around different parts of the country, so it's not the way it used to be. The last five Christmases have been uneventful. I celebrated the last Christmas in school. Although it wasn't so bad because at least I was with my friends, it could have gone better. Looking back, I don’t remember the last time I actually fully enjoyed celebrating Christmas, but maybe this coming one will be different.
A DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS
I love Christmas. I love celebrating Christmas. Not only that. I love the atmosphere, happiness and joy that comes with that big day. I love seeing people wear their Christmas clothes, and take beautiful pictures with them. It brings me joy seeing that happiness flows around the world on a particular day.
I want a different Christmas. I've been craving a massive celebration for years now, and it seems like it's going to happen this year. For the first time in years, I'll be celebrating Christmas with my family. I don't have plans for that day yet, but the fact that my siblings and parents will be together under the same roof brings joy to my heart. It turns out that I'm not the only one who's been looking forward to a grand Christmas celebration. My mom has promised that she'll prepare the tastiest chicken and jollof rice, our go-to meal every Christmas.
My older siblings also have plans to go out and have fun. I don't know the details for now, but I'm sure it's going to be grand. It's been a while since I've anticipated Christmas as much as this one, and I hope everything will go well. We still have 12 days to go, meaning there's still more than enough time to plan. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one looking forward to this year's Christmas. If you're one too, I wish you the best. Merry Christmas in advance!
